Trump: Stop Ignoring the Crisis in Puerto Rico

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Send necessary aid to the island territory of Puerto Rico to help with recovery following Hurricane Maria.

Following the strongest storm to hit an American territory in over 80 years, the island of Puerto Rico is suffering terribly in the wake of Hurricane Maria. With over 95 percent of the island without power or access to working phone lines, many are wondering when help from the U.S. government will arrive to bring necessary assistance.

Meanwhile, President Trump has spent the days following the hurricane’s deadly landfall tweeting about NFL players “disrespecting the flag” by refusing to stand during the national anthem and his disappointment regarding failed attempts to repeal ObamaCare, yet has remained conspicuously silent about the devastation occurring on American soil. He has not spoken publicly, and Puerto Rican officials say that aid is coming far too slowly to help the 3.4 million left without electricity or other basic resources.

The people of Puerto Rico are American citizens who deserve a swift response from their government to aid them in their struggle to recover and rebuild following this natural disaster. Sign below to demand that Trump commit all necessary resources immediately and show his support for the people of Puerto Rico.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

Puerto Rico has been devastated in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Over three million American citizens are without power, and basic resources like food and cash are becoming more and more scarce. The residents of this island are counting on you to send necessary financial aid and boots-on-the-ground support to help them in their efforts to recover and rebuild.

You must show your public support for the people of Puerto Rico and turn your attention to the suffering of your fellow American citizens. I urge you to immediately acknowledge the humanitarian crisis that is unfolding on U.S. soil and to send all available resources to help the citizens of this territory get back on their feet before more lives are lost.

Sincerely,
