Justice for Giant Crocodile Found Shot in the Head

Target: Ian Stewart, Queensland Police Commissioner, Australia

Goal: Find and punish the person who allegedly shot a massive crocodile, leaving a “power vacuum” in the river ecosystem.

A manhunt is underway for a person who is believed to have shot and killed a massive saltwater crocodile in Queensland. The crocodile was over 17 feet in length and may have been nearly 100 years old, according to experts. The crocodile was also likely the dominant male in the region, and in his absence, younger crocodiles in the area may now behave more aggressively as a result of this “power vacuum.”

Saltwater crocodiles are the world’s largest reptiles and are protected under Australian law after hunters nearly brought this species to extinction in the 1970s and 1980s. If the individual responsible is apprehended, he or she could face stiff fines and spend up to three years in jail, especially for having shot such an “iconic” reptile like this dominant male, who is believed to be the largest crocodile seen in the region in nearly 30 years.

The killing of this giant crocodile was both cruel and unnecessary, and it may result in people being placed in harm’s way if other crocodiles behave more aggressively as a result. Sign this petition to urge the Queensland Police to do everything within their power to ensure that the person responsible is brought to justice.

Dear Commissioner Stewart,

A giant saltwater crocodile was shot in the Fitzroy River near Rockhampton. Locals claim that the 17 foot long male was the largest crocodile they had seen in two or three decades, while experts say that this individual was likely a dominant male who may have been nearly 100 years old. The loss of this iconic creature is a tragedy, and it may provoke more aggressive behavior in other male crocodiles in the area as they position themselves for dominance.

It is illegal to kill any saltwater crocodile without the proper authority, and this killing was completely unjustified. We, the undersigned, strongly urge you to make use of all available resources to ensure that whoever is responsible be found before more crocodiles or other wildlife can be harmed.

Why? This crocodile was about 20 yrs old. Who knows how much older it would have gotten. Sad that some selfish coward shot it. I hope they put this disgusting person in jail. Our wildlife is precious and we need to
Protect them from ignorant people who
    Have no compassion or empathy.

  2. What kind of psycho gets his kicks by killing animals? These people need to be put away, permanently!
