Dog Tied Up and Abandoned in Carrier Deserves Justice

Target: Michael J. Sepic, Prosecuting Attorney for Berrien County, Michigan

Goal: Demand that the person who tied a dog’s feet and abandoned her in a dog carrier receive the maximum penalty by law.

A dog suffered when she was tied up and abandoned inside of a dog carrier. The dog was malnourished and in poor condition. Demand justice for this innocent dog.

“She was starving when we found her and looks like it’s been awhile since someone loved her or fed her,” stated Skyler Layman. Layman and her coworker found the small dog, named Meadow by her rescuers, trapped inside of a dog carrier. Meadow’s legs were bound, making her completely immobile and helpless. If not for Layman hearing her cries and whimpers, Meadow would have gone on suffering and could have even died.

Meadow was taken to River Valley Veterinary Clinic, where she is slowly recovering. Buchanan City Police and Berrien County Animal Control are investigating this case and have asked for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible. Sign below and demand that the person who abandoned Meadow be charged with animal cruelty and assigned the maximum penalty by law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecuting Attorney Sepic,

A small dog was starved and left to die in a dog carrier. The dog’s legs were bound with a leash and she was malnourished and dirty. We demand justice for this poor dog.

Shocking photos showed the small dog in utter agony. With her legs bound by a leash, she laid helplessly on her back and cried. The dog, named Meadow, was thankfully found by a concerned citizen and taken to a veterinarian for treatment. She continues to struggle with malnutrition and is having trouble with her back legs. The person responsible for this cruelty is still at large and could be a danger to other animals.

This horrific abuse cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

And what’s the ‘maximum penalty’? A month, probation, nothing that would really hurt this criminal like feeding him every other day just one meal a day?
Harsher laws should be enacted and enforced …

  8. How that poor animal must have trusted whoever tied it up and that makes the crime worse. Every day we hear of cruelty to people ,young and old, and the cruelty to creatures of whom we share this planet. Young children must be educated on the wonderful world we all share and the difference between compassion and barbarous cruelty , only then will we have hope in our future.
