Thank Good Samaritan for Donating Prosthetic Legs to Double Amputee

Target: Michael Arnette

Goal: To thank practitioner for donating prosthetic legs to young man who couldn’t afford them

J.R. Vigil was in a devastating car crash during the prime of his life, losing both his legs. With no insurance to afford prosthetic limbs, he was getting around primarily by wheelchair. Thank Michael Arnette for donating brand new prosthetic legs to J.R. so that he could move about in freedom again.

Vigil was an avid runner and had trained for half-marathons. Young and athletic, his life changed forever the night he was in a severe car wreck that left him in a coma with critical internal injuries. Because of the serious injuries, both of his legs had to be amputated. Though he was in Guam at the time, a church back in Oklahoma had heard of his story and started praying for him. One of those parishioners, Michael Arnette, was especially touched by Vigil’s story. He stayed on top of his progress as he came out of the coma and started rehabilitation. To everyone’s surprise, Vigil made quite a miraculous recovery.

But he was now living his life bound to a wheelchair. For someone who had been so active previously, the transition was especially difficult. Vigil did not have the insurance to cover appropriate prosthetic limbs. However, Arnette was a practitioner at Progressive Orthotic and Prosthetic Services and decided to donate new legs to Vigil. His donation included a pair of everyday prosthetic limbs for walking and running, and also a pair of prosthetic limbs for swimming, with a total value of over $18,000. The company even flew Vigil out for a weeklong visit to Tulsa so that the limbs could be fitted and adjusted. Both Vigil and his mother were overjoyed.

Mr. Michael Arnette is a modern-day Good Samaritan and is to be applauded for his generosity and kindness. Sign the petition below and thank him for changing J.R. Vigil’s life.

Dear Mr. Michael Arnette,

When you found out that double amputee J.R. Vigil could not afford prosthetic limbs, you donated two pairs to him. Thank you for your kindness and for reaching out to touch another person’s life.

You and your church had been praying for Vigil after his serious car crash. You prayed him through a coma and continued to provide help for him after he started his rehabilitation. Providing him with those prosthetic limbs has been a turning point in his recovery and is truly helping him to live a better and more fulfilling life.

Thank you for your generosity and for providing not just a pair of prosthetics for walking and running, but also a special pair for swimming too. Giving him back the ability to move around more freely is such a blessing for him and his family and you deserve to be recognized for it.
