Target: UK Prime Minister, David Cameron
Goal: Halt all plans to add a third runway at the crowded Heathrow airport
Heathrow airport in London, England is one of the most popular airports in the world. Due to its popularity, Prime Minister David Cameron hopes to create a third runway despite complaints from fellow politicians. Heathrow airport does not have the capacity for another runway, yet the construction plans may still occur. Prime Minister Cameron must realize the possible dangers and consequences in adding another runway and halt all plans before the damage is done.
A third runway would mean an increase in airplane traffic, as well as air pollution. With more possible flights arriving and departing from an already tight airport, the air traffic may pose safety issues for passengers, pilots, and employees. The third runway is not a smart idea and it cannot be built. Furthermore, tax payer’s money may be wasted if the third runway does not work out successfully.
The amount of air pollution the runway would add to the world would be tremendous, and our world definitely does not need to be jeopardized by fuels any more. A third runway will also destroy homes and the standard of living for families and citizens located near the airport since the noise level will significantly increase.
The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and fellow politicians from Prime Minister Cameron’s party all object to this project. According to UK newspaper, the Dailymail, Johnson has stated that if this project does move on, he will lead the opposition. Other politicians believe that the project will not happen due to the backlash that has grown since the announcement. The project is currently a long term ordeal that may start three years later. Three years may seem like a lot of time, but if nothing is done now to object the runway, it may be built right under the noses of everyone.
Mayor Johnson stated in the Dailymail, “It is simply mad to build a new runway in the middle of West London. The third runway would mean more traffic, more noise, more pollution – and a serious reduction in the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of people. We will fight this all the way.”
The project must not start and the runway, which is more harmful than it is beneficial, must not be constructed.
Dear Prime Minister David Cameron,
The plans to build a third runway in Heathrow airport are immature and unnecessary. Heathrow airport does not even have the capacity to withstand the extra airplane traffic that the runway would generate. The air traffic will also increase the dangers both in the air and on the tarp. Furthermore, the third runway would only add on to the pollution of our air, which is something the entire world is trying to avoid.
No one is happy about these plans, and you must listen to your citizens and fellow colleagues. Families who live by the airport will suffer from the increase level of noise. The quality of their everyday lives will be decreased. The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has spoken out against this case and you must listen to his logic.
It is vital that you acknowledge the consequences of building a third runway. It will do more harm than good and you must not let the project start.
