Target: Climb to Fight Breast Cancer organization
Goal: Thank all the climbers who have or are planning on taking part in climbing expeditions to support breast cancer research.
Since 1997, climbers, sponsors, breast cancer survivors or anyone who wants to make a difference have been summiting mountains all across the world in an effort to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. All donations from the sponsors of the climbers benefit the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and so far, $5.5 million has been donated to fund critical cancer research. While this money has helped bring scientists many steps closer to finding a cure, still 1 in every 8 women will fight breast cancer within her lifetime. These outdoor enthusiasts are taking the initiative to keep fighting against this persistent disease and working to save lives with every step they take.
Expeditions up a variety of peaks, including but not limited to Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Baker and Mt. Olympus, take place every year during the summer months. Climbers either summit the mountains individually or with their fellow team members and are led each time by professional guides. Adventures can last anywhere between a couple days to a few weeks, looking out upon some of the world’s most magnificent views, all the while fundraising for breast cancer.
Applaud the ambition of all the climbers who are willing to train and prepare for these very difficult climbs in hopes to help spare a woman from breast cancer. Not only are they raising an incredible amount of money to support finding a cause, they are spreading the word on the reality of how terrible cancer is and in turn, what can be done to put an end to the disease. Thank these men and women for their efforts and show your appreciation for the difference they are making in so many lives.
Dear Climb to Fight Breast Cancer organization,
I would like to commend this organization and all the outdoor enthusiasts who are working to make a cure for cancer a reality. All of the professional climbers, amateur climbers, survivors and sponsors who set out on expeditions to summit mountains all across the globe are incredible individuals working to fight an aggressive disease that must be stopped. In the 15 years that the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer organization has been around, an outstanding $5.5 million has been raised by these climbers, benefiting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and bringing researchers that much closer to a cure.
The efforts of these many men and women do not go unnoticed and will surely make a difference in the lives of so many people. An estimated 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point within her lifetime, according to the National Cancer Institute. With the help of these adventurous mountaineers, that number is on its way to being dramatically reduced. Each step a climber makes brings the world that much closer to a cure, in regards to the funds and awareness they are raising. Hopefully, someday a cure will be found and these climbers will be among the many to have helped along the way. Please continue the fight and enjoying every moment of every climb.
