Steakhouse: Apologize to Humiliated Gay Couple

Target: James MacLeod, Manager of Washington, D.C. Steakhouse The Prime Rib

Goal: Demand restaurant apologize to gay couple for reported public shaming.

A Washington, D.C. steakhouse waiter reportedly refused to let a gay couple share a sundae, claiming it didn’t “look right.” The couple did not say anything to the manager, instead complaining publicly on Yelp and gaining support among many disgusted readers who refused to give The Prime Rib steakhouse their business. When manager James MacLeod was notified of the incident, he allegedly claimed the waiter may have not realized what he was saying due to English not being his second language.

It is a disgrace, in 2017, that a gay couple can so easily be denied the right to something as simple as sharing a dessert. Worse, the manager’s claim sounds like an excuse; even if the restaurant itself does not tolerate bigotry and homophobia, they have not taken any measures to discipline the waiter for his comment.

Whether it was an honest mistake or deliberate bigotry, the waiter must be called out and corrected for sending such an anti-LGBT message in this day and age. LGBT rights are very fragile right now due to the political climate and must be protected. Sign this petition to demand The Prime Rib steakhouse apologize to the couple.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. MacLeod,

A gay couple was reportedly denied the right to share a sundae at your restaurant; a waiter commented that it “wouldn’t fit the ambience.” Your claim that he did not know what he was saying due to English not being his first language comes off as an excuse, even if you do not condone bigotry. The couple was humiliated, and those who read about the incident on Yelp are disgusted.

You must apologize personally to the couple and take disciplinary action against the waiter. Whether or not it was intentional, he sent a very negative and cruel message; in this day and age, LGBT rights are very fragile and more important than ever. A gay couple should not be denied something as simple as sharing a dessert. Apologize, and ensure that such a thing does not happen again.

Sincerely,

This is one of the stupidest petitions I have seen on this site. A couple is crying victim after they dined at a STEAKHOUSE?? Because of a COMMENT? First world problems much? Only in America can people be whipped into a frenzy and demand to be seen as a victim after dining on someone else’s corpse. God forbid anyone mention the cow who was slaughtered for this privileged couple’s indulgence. Unbelievable. This sounds like something from The Onion.

English my second language. In this country, legally, too many moons ago, struggling to make myself understood, can recall saying the most hilarious things. The waiter probably meant something else. You are so righ…Glad I saw your comment. “Food for thought”.

  2. I DISAGREE WITH BOTH STATEMENTS ABOVE. I GUESS THEY DO NOT KNOW THE LAW IN AMERICA! IT IS THE CHOICE OF EACH PERSON WHAT THEY EAT OR DON’T WANT TO EAT. BUT AS FOR ME, I AM A VEGETARIAN. HOW ABOUT THE TWO OF YOU?!
