Eliminate Abusive Seagull Prank Video from YouTube

Target: YouTube

Goal: Remove horrific animal abuse video

YouTube recently got a lot of traffic for a video titled, “Seagulls on Laxatives Prank,” where several teenagers feed laxative-soaked chips to a horde of seagulls at an unknown beach. In the aftermath of the feeding, seagulls uncontrollably shower beachgoers with excrement. Several people, including a baby, are covered with feces. Not only was this prank dangerous to humans, but it also most likely harmed the seagulls that consumed the laxatives. Such pranks are abusive to animals and humans, and should not be encouraged by Internet forums.

Feeding a human laxative to an animal poses danger because animals should only eat food that occurs naturally in their ecosystem, or food that has been formulated for the nutrition of their bodies. Many species of birds consume fruits, which contain natural laxatives. However, chemical laxatives intended for humans can cause side effects such as, water retention and bloating, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and heart attacks. Similarly, an ingredient called phenolphthalein, that is used in many popular brands of laxatives, was recently banned by the FDA because it causes cancer. Eating a chemical laxative with these side effects and consuming a larger dosage than a human would normally eat surely had lethal effects on the seagulls.

Human victims of this prank ranged from police officers and skaters to sunbathers and families picnicking on the beach. The youngest victim was a baby whose head was covered in excrement. This prank not only endangered seagulls, but was a great health hazard to humans. YouTube should immediately remove this offensive video from its website to prevent this prank from being replicated by others and to prevent support for the teenagers who made it.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear YouTube,

Your website recently got a lot of traffic for a video titled, “Seagulls on Laxatives Prank,” where several teenagers feed laxative-soaked chips to a horde of seagulls at an unknown beach. Not only was this prank dangerous to humans, but it also most likely killed the seagulls that consumed the laxatives.

This popular video has received a lot of views and positive comments online because viewers find it funny. However, it is offensive because it shows individuals abusing animals and humans. Keeping this video on your website shows support for the teenagers who filmed it and for their abusive intentions. Please remove this video immediately to stop this glorification of wrong actions and to prevent others from recreating this hazardous prank.

Sincerely,

  3. You all are a bunch of idiots

  4. No doubt! “Take down the video”

Did you know if you find something on the Internet that is offensive to you and your family, you don’t have to watch it?

But it’s more fun for ass clowns like yourself to start petitions. Petitions to stop petitions. I think we should petition to keep cry babies off of any type of social media.

  5. This video is really old, from 2003, guess it doesn’t really matter anymore anyway.

  6. Evil Seagull killing and eating Pigeon alive, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9sDQhNWuJnY

    But the poor gulls. 🙁

  8. Give me a break.

I’ve heard of people soaking bread with Drano and feeding it to seagulls, then watching them explode like fireworks in the sky. Some people shoot the birds because they crap all over everything without the laxatives.

Have you ever lived in an area with a lot of seagulls? I had my date’s shoes crapped on when we were romantically relaxing on a 32nd floor patio (again with no laxatives). They don’t call them sh*thawks for nothing.

If you are so concerned about them only eating things naturally occurring in their ecosystem, maybe the teenagers did them some good. Pringles chips and garbage left on the beach isn’t exactly natural either.

This is a cause without a purpose other than being a cause.

Go hang out in seagull infested beach parks for a while. I used to say to my stepdaughter, Seagulls are good at one thing: converting garbage into crappy white paint with rocks in it.

I’m not for killing the gulls, but a bird species that has adapted to eat garbage getting fed a laxative is hardly the end of the earth and a threat to the ecosystem. If they didn’t feed the birds the pringles or the laxatives, they would have found some other human garbage to eat; notice that they hang around humans – for a reason.

This whole thing is like saying feeding rats rat poision is animal cruelty – and at least the laxative didn’t actually hurt the gulls or kill them.
