Punish Woman Accused of Trying to Sell Baby Fox Online

Target: George P. Beach, Superintendent of the New York State Police

Goal: Punish woman who allegedly tried to sell baby arctic fox online.

A New York woman was cited for allegedly trying to sell a baby arctic snow fox on Craigslist; she claims she bought the fox in Michigan before trying to sell it for $600 online. The authorities have issued her a ticket and taken the animal from her; they are now looking into the Michigan sale.

This is a more subtle brand of animal cruelty, but it is cruelty nonetheless. The accused has essentially treated an innocent wild animal as chattel to be bought and sold, an object to gain profit from. Furthermore, it is illegal to sell and keep wild animals as pets in New York, and this woman reportedly attempted to break that law.

It is fortunate that the Department of Environmental Conservation was able to rescue the fox before any sale could be made, but as of right now, the woman has yet to face any serious punishment beyond the possibility of paying a hefty fine. Sign this petition to demand the accused face a more severe punishment for treating an innocent wild animal as property.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Superintendent Beach,

A New York woman has been accused of trying to sell a baby arctic snow fox for a hefty sum of money after purchasing the animal in Michigan. The fox was rescued by the Department of Environmental Conservation, and the authorities are investigating the sale of the fox to the woman. However, she has yet to face any serious charges for allegedly treating the innocent fox like chattel.

Your laws strictly forbid the buying and selling of wild animals for profit, or keeping them as pets. This woman apparently not only broke that law, but she could have endangered the fox’s life to do so. She must face justice for her reported actions.

Sincerely,

NYC BE RESPONSIBLE – CHARGE THE WOMAN WHO TRIED TO SELL A BABY ARCTIC SNOW FOX ON CRAIGSLIST. CRAIGSLIST IS GUITY OF THE IILEGAL SALE OF A LOT OF HELPLESS AND VOICELESS ANIMALS, AND IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED.

  2. Both the WOMAN and CRAIGSLIST need to be charged and punished!!!

  3. Peter Darby says:

If you do not punish people who sell/buy these animals then the supply and demand of this market will continue to increase, because there is no negative outcome for breaking the law and endangering these animals.

  4. WILDLIFE IS NOT FOR SALE.
