Don’t Appoint Racist Radio Host to Federal Position

Target: Senator Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader

Goal: Don’t appoint racist radio host to chief scientist role at the Department of Agriculture.

Donald Trump has nominated a racist, right-wing radio host to head the Department of Agriculture. Sam Clovis, former conservative radio host, is one of the figures who helped start the “birther” movement against President Obama, which Trump latched onto.

Not only did Clovis help start the racist birtherism movement, he also spoke out publicly against African American figures in the government, including former Attorney General Eric Holder. Clovis also promoted fringe conspiracy theories on his radio show.

A right-wing conspiracy theorist should not be given the role of “chief scientist,” a role that requires a respect and commitment to facts. Trump is once again only appointing a supporter and ally to an important position, instead of someone who is actually qualified. Sign the petition and ask the Senate that Clovis not be appointed to the Department of Agriculture role.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Senator Schumer,

Donald Trump has nominated Sam Clovis, former right-wing radio host, to the position of chief scientist at the Department of Agriculture. Clovis helped start the birther movement and used his radio platform to spread racist propaganda and conspiracy theories.

Clovis has no experience that would be useful to the country in the position for which he has been nominated. Chief scientist requires an individual with a commitment to the facts. Clovis, with his conspiracy theories and birther believes, demonstrates that he has no such commitment. I ask that you and your fellow senators reject his nomination.

Sincerely,

NO! NO! This cannot be allowed to happen. The DOA is a very important part of our world. He is not the person that should be in that position!!
