Protect Habitat of Endangered Frogs

Target: Paul Wenger, President of the California Farm Bureau

Goal: Protect the habitat of endangered frogs by dropping a lawsuit against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Three species of endangered frogs in California may soon face extinction. Ranchers in the state have sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in an effort to strip away habitat protections for these amphibians.

Roughly 1.8 million acres of land are protected in California. Conservationists hope that protecting the land will allow the frog species that call it home the opportunity to repopulate. The protected status does not ban ranchers from working on the land. It only makes them consult with federal agencies before they do so.

The only way these frogs can be saved is by protecting their habitat. The ranchers’ suit puts threatens those protections. Sign the petition and ask them to drop the lawsuit and protect the endangered frogs’ habitat.

Dear Mr. Wenger,

Endangered frogs in your state may soon be extinct. Three species of endangered frogs are in danger of losing their habitat. Roughly 1.8 million acres of land in California are protected, but your lawsuit may soon change that.

Protecting and regulating this land is the only way to protect these endangered species. Should the land be farmed or developed with little input from conservationists and wildlife experts, these frogs will die. Please drop your lawsuit against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and protect the habitat of these endangered frogs.

  1. Why should ranchers have the right to destroy an endangered species of frogs?
By demanding that protections for the frogs be removed, they are demanding the right to destroy them. They must feel pretty “entitled” to make such a demand.

  2. keep the important protections for the great frogs now.

  3. Mr Wenger, It is your job to protect endangered frogs in California, please do your job!
