Fire Border Officers Who Let Boy Drink Meth

Target: Kevin K. McAleenan, Acting Commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Goal: Fire officers who permitted a school boy to drink liquid methamphetamine.

Sixteen year old Mexican high school student Cruz Velazquez died of a massive methamphetamine overdose after allegedly being possibly encouraged – or at least permitted – to consume the drug by officials at a U.S. border crossing. In footage that has surfaced online, one U.S. border official can be seen gesturing towards the bottle, prompting speculation reported by ABC that the official may have encouraged or otherwise allowed the boy to drink a thick, yellow liquid he claimed was apple juice. The liquid was actually concentrated meth, but the officers allegedly opted not to use testing kits that were available at the time. Instead, Velazquez was allowed to drink the liquid to prove it was just a harmless beverage. Minutes later, the boy collapsed and convulsed, screaming “my heart” and “my sister.” He died shortly later.

“What you see, I think, is a basic lack of compassion and decency toward a 16-year-old boy,” his lawyer, Eugene Iredale has stated.

He added, “Almost a delight that you would see in children who just pull the wings off flies slowly, a smile when he’s being asked to drink something and being put in this position.”

Velazquez had allegedly been threatened by drug traffickers, who warned the boy that if he failed to make the crossing, his sister would be killed.

That incident took place in 2013. Since then, the officers involved have faced no disciplinary measures, and remain on the job today.

If you believe no child should have to choose between drinking poison or allowing his sister to die, then please sign this petition demanding the officers involved be fired.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr McAleenan,

As head of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, it’s your obligation to ensure officers act humanely and responsibly. In 2013, two border patrol officers have been accused of encouraging or allowing a 16-year-old Mexican school boy to drink concentrated liquid meth. The boy died shortly later, though the officers have faced no disciplinary action. It’s unclear why the officers didn’t simply test the liquid, rather than put a young boy’s life at risk. Treating a child in this way is unbecoming of anyone who claims to defend justice and the rule of law, and is therefore unbecoming of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. We urge you to send a message, and fire the officers involved.

Sincerely,

  1. MR MCALEENAN, THIS NOT THE WAY THE USA BORDERS & CUSTOMS PROTECTION WOULD PROPERLY HANDLE THIS SITUATION. YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR JOB! YOU WATCHED AND LAUGHED AT A 16 YEAR OLD BOY DRINK METH, AND DIE, AND YOU KNEW IT. THIS ACT OF YOURS AND CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION, IS UNACEPTABLE IN THE USA. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT! I AM SURE THAT GENERAL JEFF KELLY WOULD BE VERY DISTURBED TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION!

  2. Fire and prosecute the two border officers for murder.

    • Yes it may well have been murder, not just manslaughter as I said (below). The fact that they waited half an hour to contact paramedics, seems to indicate they wanted him to die.

  3. The fact that the government didn’t want this video out is very incriminating. This incident should be fully investigated by an independent investigator, as it is obvious the government wouldn’t be impartial and would keep protecting these officers.
The officers involved should be fired, definitely. If it is as it seems, they should be prosecuted for manslaughter.

It makes me sick to my stomach to know that those officers are still working. They could have tested what was in those bottles and instead made that kid drink it. THEY KILLED HIM. It doesnt take a fkn rocket scientist to figure that out. Shame on those people who are still allowing them to work.
