U.S. Fish and Wildlife: Protect the Endangered Species Act

Target: Greg Sheehan, Acting Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Goal: Demand the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service protect the Endangered Species Act.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has chosen to back a series of bills attacking the Endangered Species Act. The agency claims that the ESA “doesn’t work” and the bills only wish to “improve it,” but considering the overall agenda of the White House and its lack of care and respect for the environment, the claims come off as mere excuses to aid in the destruction of a vital law for the sake of the president’s special interests.

The ESA has been crucial in the preservation and protection of many endangered or nearly-extinct species since 1973, but with the planet facing the strong possibility of mass extinctions, it is more important than ever. Some species of aquatic wildlife and birds are on a slow decline, while species such as the rhino are almost completely gone from this world. The ESA needs full congressional backing more than ever.

A department founded upon the protection and conservation of wildlife should not be supporting attacks on the ESA. Sign this petition to demand the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services revoke its backing of the White House’s agenda.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Acting Director Sheehan,

Your decision to back the White House’s attempts to chip away at the Endangered Species Act defies everything the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service stands for. Your claims, as well as those of the White House, that the bills will “improve” the ESA are false; it has been much too clear for months now that the ESA and other environmental bills are in the way of the president’s special interests.

The ESA must be preserved; at a time like this, when the planet is facing a possible mass extinction, it needs congressional support and for your department to protest any attempts to destroy it. Too many species are dying out, be they on a slow decline or almost completely extinct, and if the ESA is compromised, they could lose their protection.

Do not support the White House’s bills. Your department must stand by the ESA more strongly now than ever.

Sincerely,

  1. Gen Lovyet Agustsson says:

no more animal extinctions! please go vegan now!

  2. GREG SHEENAN, DO YOUR JOB AND PROTECT ALL ENDANGERED SPEICIES IN THE USA. STAND BY THE ESA MORE STRONGLY!

  3. I can’t help being reminded of George Orwell’s book 1984. Trump’s administration seems to be using it as a template.
In 1984, with the totalitarian government in control – as all who have read the book know – they used “doublespeak”. The Ministry of Truth calculatedly put out lies; the Ministry of Peace promoted war; the Ministry of Love was involved with torture; and the Ministry of Plenty, with forced starvation.
It seems the Trump administration is hijacking the government departments such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and turning them into Orwell-type Ministries.
