Ban Torturous Event That Sets Bulls Horns on Fire

Target: Ximo Puig, President of the Valencian Government, Spain

Goal: End the abuse of bulls at the “Bulls in the Street” Festival.

A bull in the Spanish town of Foios has died after burning torches were attached to its horns, causing it to panic and run headfirst into a post. The bull had been restrained in a makeshift arena in the town’s square as part of a cultural event known as the “Bulls in the Street” festival, which is held each year as a sort of scaled-down version of the world-famous Running of the Bulls in Pamplona.

The bull, which had come from a local ranch, had gored a man earlier in the day as part of a bull running event, yet it is unknown if this is the reason this animal had been singled out for the torturous display. What we do know is that this innocent creature was tied to a wooden post and taunted by event officials who pulled on its tail before attaching the lit torches to its horns. As soon as the bull was released, it appeared blinded by the flames as it flailed violently and then crashed into the post within seconds, dying immediately.

Events such as this have been sanctioned across Spain as “cultural assets” despite their obvious cruelty. Sign this petition to tell the regional Valencian government that animals must not be abused in the name of tradition and entertainment.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Puig,

A bull has died a tragic and horrific death during an event staged as part of the “Bulls in the Street” festival in Foios. After having burning torches tied to its horns, the animal flailed and ran headfirst into a wooden post, dying instantly as onlookers cheered.

Events such as these represent traditions that are both cruel and outdated. Innocent animals should not be tortured in the name of preserving so-called “cultural assets” like this festival. I urge you to call for the end of this barbarity and to ban this and other similar events across Valencia.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

This is truly a vicious form of cruelty. This is an unacceptable behavior and practice.
These people participating and being spectators for this event should be ashamed of themselves and both groups of people are guilty. Isn’t it about time you changed this type of barbaric entertainment? I would not trust any of these individuals with any animals.
