Applaud Boston Mayor For Banning Anti-LGBT Chick-fil-A

Target: Mayor Thomas Menino

Goal: To thank Boston mayor Thomas Menino for standing for equality by banning anti-gay food chain from town

Chick-fil-A has joined the number of organizations that support marriage segregation due to their religion-backed opinions. The food chain has donated roughly $5 million to anti-gay hate groups such as the Family Research Council, Marriage & Family Foundation, and Exodus International between 2003 and 2010. As a result, the anti-gay organization has been banned from Boston by Mayor Thomas Menino, who made it clear that the homophobic chain is not welcome in his city.

“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston,” the courageous mayor stated. “You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.”

Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A’s president, declared that Chick-fil-A was not a Christian corporation and stated that there could never be such a thing. However, he did not hesitate to clarify that the company was “guilty as charged” when it came to supporting homophobia. “We know that it might not be popular with everyone,” Cathy said to the Baptist Press, “but thank the Lord we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”

Because we also live in a country where inequality can and will be fought against, thank Major Thomas Menino for standing strong and refusing to accommodate an anti-gay food chain that has no business sharing its religious and hateful views in the first place.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mayor Thomas Menino,

In light of your current actions regarding Chick-fil-A and its potential expansions in Boston, I want to thank you for standing up for equality and taking a stance against marriage segregation. Chick-fil-A has been allowed to spread its religion-backed homophobia for too long, and I am relieved to know that there are leaders of this nation that are willing to sacrifice economic benefits in order to do what is right.

Boston is leading the way in this nation when it comes to supporting marriage equity, and you should be proud of your actions. The more Chick-fil-A realizes that certain cities will not let them build within their borders due to the food chain’s homophobic beliefs, the more likely it becomes that they will support anti-gay hate groups less and less. Thank you for your support of equal rights for the LGBT community, and keep up the admirable work.

Sincerely,
