Save Refugees Suffering in Dangerous and Filthy Camps

Target: Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia

Goal: Allow refugees stranded in soon-to-be-closed detention centers into Australia.

Thousands of men, women, and children face an uncertain future, trapped in an illegal Australian refugee camp in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Papa New Guinea. This detention center on Manus Island is set to close, but no word has been announced as to the fate of the refugees detained there.

The conditions in these camps are squalid. Their food, shelter, and overall treatment methods are so inhumane that courts have ordered them to close. Yet thousands of refugees in limbo remain stuck there.

These refugees should be welcomed to Australia. They’ve left strife, famine, and violence in their home countries, only to be greeted with the same in a land they thought to be safe. Sign the petition and demand that these refugees who will soon lose their shelter be welcomed to safety.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prime Minister Turnbull,

The squalid refugee detention centers off the coast of your country are set to close. However, no thought has been given to the men, women, and children who still suffer there, yet have no place else to go.

These refugees have suffered enough. They want nothing but safety and a chance at a fresh start, which your government has thus far denied them for far too long. When the detention centers close, they should be welcomed into your country.

Sincerely,

  1. It’s horrendous how these refugees have been treated. Australia should be ashamed of itself, and should apologize to these people and welcome them into their country.
