Justice for Black Teenager Allegedly Beaten by Police

Target: Lyle Martin, Chief of Police at the Bakersfield Police Department in Bakersfield, California

Goal: Demand that the police officers who allegedly beat a black teenage girl be disciplined for their actions.

A black teenage girl was reportedly beaten by police officers after she was misidentified as an adult male suspect. The Bakersfield Police Department claims that this had nothing to do with race and that the teenager resisted arrest. Demand that justice is served for this teenager.

“I told him I couldn’t breathe. Then he put his other knee in my head, and then I told him, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,'” stated Tatyana Hargrove. The 19-year-old girl reported that she was riding her bike and stopped to get a drink of water. The officers allegedly asked for her backpack, which she provided, and then one of them beat her and commanded the police dog to attack.

Hargrove suffered minor physical injuries and is reportedly afraid to be alone. She has been charged with resisting or delaying an officer and aggravated assault on an officer. The California Department of Justice is currently investigating the Bakersfield Police Department for other potential civil rights violations. Sign below and demand that the officers involved be punished for their alleged actions.

Dear Chief Martin,

A teenage girl suffered tremendously after she was allegedly beaten by police offers and attacked by a police dog. She was reportedly misidentified as an adult male suspect while riding her bike home. We demand that justice is served for this innocent teenager.

“He grabbed me by my wrist like this, and then he grabbed me by my neck, punched me, and then threw me on the ground,” Tatyana Hargrove recounted in a video. Hargrove was reportedly misidentified as a 5’10” to 6’0″ tall, 160-170 pound black male in his 20s or 30s. Per police reports, Hargrove is 5’ 2″ and weighs 120 pounds.

This grave misconduct must not go unpunished. We demand that you discipline the officers involved in this incident, if they are found guilty.

  2. Do the cops really expect any sane person to believe that they mistook this petite woman for a man much bigger and taller than her?!
The cops who brutalized her and those covering up for them should all be fired. This corrupt lot needs to go. They are a bunch of abusers and liars.
