Ensure All Available Resources are Used in Search for Missing Iowa Girls

Target: FBI Director Robert Mueller

Goal: Ensure all available agency resources are used in the search for two missing Iowa girls.

Ten-year-old Lyric Cook and her cousin eight-year-old Elizabeth Collins recently went to ride their bikes and never returned home to their grandmother. After investigation of the surrounding area, the girls’ bikes were found abandoned next to Meyers Lake. Family members stated that not only did the girls not know how to get to the lake, but they doubt the girls would have gone swimming in a lake they were unfamiliar with. While authorities are draining Meyers Lake in belief that the girls possibly drowned, the case is beginning to look more and more like an abduction case.

If the lake is drained and the girls’ bodies are not found, the search will continue for them in assumption that they were abducted. In such a small town, it is essential that community members communicate with each other and help in finding these girls. This family needs as much support as possible, not only from people in Iowa, but also from people around the country. It is necessary that people spread the word that these girls are missing in order to raise awareness and increase the amount of people who would recognize the missing girls if they were spotted in public. Additionally, the FBI must use all available resources to aid in the search. We must work together as a nation to help find Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, and we must provide as much support for the family as possible.

Dear Robert Mueller,

The story of the two missing girls in Iowa is all over the news now, and we would like to be assured that all agency resources will be used to find them. It is understood that Lyric’s and Elizabeth’s bikes were found abandoned near Meyers Lake, yet they have never been there to swim before. If the girls are not found after the lake is drained, the search for them must continue. If they were abducted, it is extremely important that we spread the word. Their pictures should be in newspapers and news websites across the country in order to make the public familiar with the case. If people know what Lyric and Elizabeth look like, they are more able to identify them if spotted in public. This could make it much easier to find the missing girls.

Also, search parties should be formed within their community in Iowa. If community members work together, it is more likely that the girls will be found. It is extremely helpful that their community is a small and close-knit one because most people in the neighborhood know each other and thus know the girls. In this time of hardship and struggle, I would like to do everything possible to assure the families of Lyric and Elizabeth that all federal resources are being used to search for the girls. We want their families to know that they are not alone in the search of the girls.
