Dogs Allegedly Starved and Neglected Deserve Justice

Target: Rhonda L. Wade, Prosecutor for Marshall County, West Virginia

Goal: Demand that the woman who allegedly neglected and starved two dogs receive the maximum penalty under law.

Two dogs were allegedly starved and neglected in an extreme case of animal abuse. The dogs’ ribs reportedly showed through their skin and they were covered in fleas. Per the criminal complaint, the owner first claimed that she had given the dogs away to an out-of-town worker and then stated that she’d left them with a family member while she was on vacation. Demand justice for these innocent dogs.

“The male dog was the skinniest I have ever seen since I have been here. And infested with fleas. Just very dirty, skinny, hungry,” stated Marshall County Animal Shelter Director Lauren Cook. Megan Schulte dropped the dogs, named Mollie and Toby, off at the shelter and was later arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

Mollie and Toby received medical care at the shelter and are recovering. Schulte is free after posting a $1,500 bond. Sign below and demand that Schulte receive the maximum penalty under law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor Wade,

Two dogs suffered tremendously when they were allegedly starved and neglected. The dogs were reportedly covered in fleas and dangerously thin. We demand justice for these poor dogs.

Mollie and Toby were reportedly in bad shape when they were dropped off at the Marshall County Animal Shelter. Per shelter workers, the dogs were extremely thin, dirty, and malnourished due to not being fed. Their owner, Megan Schulte, reportedly gave police two contradictory stories about who was supposed to be caring for the dogs.

This cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
