Dogs Allegedly Killed by Kennel Owner Deserve Justice

Target: Barbara Yook, District Attorney for Calaveras County, California

Goal: Demand that the owner of a kennel who allegedly killed three dogs receive the maximum penalty under law.

Three dogs allegedly died under suspicious circumstances while staying at a kennel. The kennel owner reportedly told the dogs’ owner that they were put down due to their aggression, but investigators suspect that the dogs were killed in a felonious manner. Demand justice for these poor dogs.

Less than two weeks after three dogs were boarded at the Pet Bath House, their owner received frightening news. Vonna Hughes, owner of the kennel, claimed that the dogs had escaped and were involved in a fight with other dogs. This allegedly resulted in Hughes “putting down” the dogs due to their aggression. However, investigators found evidence suggesting that she had hired a third party to “take care” of the dogs in a felonious manner.

The location and status of the dogs is currently unknown. Hughes was arrested on multiple charges related to animal cruelty, animal neglect, theft of an animal, and conspiracy. Sign below and demand that Hughes receive the maximum penalty under law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Yook,

Three dogs were reportedly killed while staying at the Pet Bath House. Vonna Hughes, the kennel’s owner, reported that she put the dogs down due to their aggression, but investigators suspect otherwise. We demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Angels Camp police began investigating Hughes after three dogs were allegedly killed while in her care. They discovered that Hughes allegedly provided false information regarding the dogs’ injuries and status to Calaveras County Animal Services. Per investigators, Hughes also hired a third party to “take care” of the dogs that, she claimed, were euthanized. The dogs are currently missing.

This horrific cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

  1. Debra Beaufort says:

As a volunteer at Calaveras County Animal Services
I met these three dogs. They were definitely NOT aggressive dogs. In fact, I would classify them as couch potatoes, especially Casper. When I found out they were euthanized I was devastated and cannot believe this was done without the owners and Animal Services being notified of the alleged bite and altercation with other dogs.
It seems out of character for the three.
