Trump: Retract Unproven Claim That James Comey Broke the Law

Target: President Donald Trump

Goal: Retract your claim that James Comey broke the law, which was based on a misleading Fox News report.

Donald Trump has claimed that former FBI director James Comey broke the law by leaking classified information to the media. Trump tweeted this claim shortly after “Fox and Friends” aired a story on the subject.

After the “Fox and Friends” report, the show’s Twitter account tweeted, “Report accuses material James Comey leaked to a friend contained top secret information.” Trump quickly retweeted this, then sent out a tweet of his own reading “James Comey leaked CLASSIFIED INFORMATION to the media. That is so illegal!”

Not only did Trump embellish the report and tweet from “Fox and Friends,” he leveled a very serious charge against Comey for which there is not yet any supporting evidence. As The Washington Post reports, “The tweet from ‘Fox and Friends’ based on the Hill report is incorrect. And so, too, is Trump’s tweet. If there was classified information in the memo that Comey asked his friend to leak to the Times, that’s not yet been reported.”

Add your name to the petition below to demand that Trump retract this unsubstantiated claim.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

You recently used Twitter to accuse James Comey of leaking classified information to the media. This a very serious accusation to make about a former federal employee, and you have made it based on a misleading Fox News story and with no evidence to support the veracity of the accusation.

You continue to show a profound lack of understanding regarding your office, the behavior expected from a leader, and the legal nature of the investigation into your administration. I demand that you retract the claim you made about James Comey, as it is unsubstantiated and sets a dangerous precedent.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

This from a man who has been breaking the law since the
    day he took office.

  2. ….and how many lawsuits does our “president” have pending? He’s not the guy to point his little fingers, especially when he’s lying.
