Stop Forcing Elephants to Give Rides

Target: Chief Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh of the Honourable High Court of Kerala

Goal: Ban elephant rides in Jaipur.

Unfortunately, elephant rides are still a common practice in Jaipur, India. Despite the government’s efforts to regulate and control elephant rides, the elephants are still being overworked, neglected, and abused. It is time to end elephant rides in Jaipur once and for all.

Elephants used for rides are often abused and neglected. An inspection was done of captive elephants in Jaipur by elephant experts and veterinarians, and they found most of the elephants were emaciated and showed signs of abuse. Many of the elephants also have pierced ears and carvings in their tusks.

Sign this petition and demand Jaipur ban all elephant rides. It is clear regulations are not enough to keep these elephants safe and stricter laws must be put into action.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Cheif Justice Singh,

Recent footage from a tourist in Jaipur shows an elephant struggling to walk in the overbearing heat while eight men beat her with sticks. Your government has already tried to regulate and control elephant rides, but despite these efforts, elephants are still being overworked, neglected, and abused. It is time to ban elephant rides all together.

Elephants used for rides face a variety of mental and physical hardships and are typically neglected and abused. Elephant experts and veterinarians held an inspection of captive elephants in Jaipur and found that most of the animals were emaciated and showed signs of abuse. In addition, many of the elephants have pierced ears and carvings in their tusks.

It is clear that regulations are not enough to protect elephants. Many do not take the regulations seriously and it is difficult for the government to enforce them. It is time to ban elephant rides all together. Elephants should not suffer for the entertainment of humans.

Sincerely,

  1. Elephants are not for your enterainment, or to carry your lazy butts on their backs. Stop what you have been getting away with for years.

  2. Kerala has always been known to be the armpit of India. Very little in Kerala is ethical, principled or remotely decent.

  3. Respect, esteem and love for the animals is normal for me
For many other people these words are unknown – WHY

    So, no abuse of animals
No riding of elephants – never

  5. Dear Sir:
Please stop using elephants as entertainment.
I am sure that in your region are artists, gifted entertainers and fantastic cooks. You, with the help of your community, could create, in conjunction with special holidays, special events that would be fun for tourists. Give your creativity free run!

  6. Despite the government’s efforts?? How pathetic is that? Enforce the laws- fine and punish those who disobey-and do it now! These majestic creatures are suffering- treasure them and entertain your customers in more modern and interesting ways, and by talented and entertaining human animals!
