Don’t Let Microsoft Cut Thousands of Jobs

Target: Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft

Goal: Don’t fire thousands of workers.

Microsoft has confirmed rumors it will slash thousands of jobs, mostly in sales and marketing. CNBC has reported around 3000 jobs are on the chopping block, though the company itself hasn’t confirmed this figure. Either way, a source close to the company has stated the firings will easily be in the “several thousands” of positions, according to tech site ZDNet.

These firings are not reportedly the fault of the workers. Instead, they’re part of Microsoft’s new business strategy to refocus on cloud services, instead of its more traditional server and desktop operations.

If you believe thousands of workers don’t deserve to be fired for no fault of their own, then sign this petition demanding Microsoft back down on these cuts.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr Nadella,

Microsoft prides itself on its image as a socially responsible, progressive company. Yet your firm is currency in the process of firing thousands of its own employees, as part of a new business strategy. These mass firings are a black stain on the company’s international image – not to mention a disaster for the employees involved. Rather than be fired, these employees should be given new positions within the company, or otherwise held on in whatever way possible. This would send a message that Microsoft cares about its people; not just corporate profits.
