Reinstate Captain Allegedly Fired for Testifying in Police Brutality Case

Target: Kevin Lawlor, Connecticut State’s Attorney

Goal: Reinstate police captain who testified against an officer convicted of brutality.

Police Captain Patrick Gaynor was allegedly fired after his testimony led to the conviction of an officer who brutalized an inmate. Gaynor had discovered a video of Officer Evan Cossette, the police chief’s son, brutalizing an inmate, according to Gaynor’s attorney. Gaynor testified against the officer in federal court where Cossette was ultimately convicted. A lawsuit claims that Lawlor was then fired as retribution.

It sounds like the former captain did the right thing by reporting the video that showed an officer brutalizing an inmate. It’s disgusting that an officer lost his job, and possibly his entire career, for doing the right thing. Please sign this petition to demand that Police Captain Gaynor be reinstated as a police officer since he wasn’t the one convicted of a horrible crime.

Dear Mr. Lawlor,

Police Captain Patrick Gaynor was reportedly fired in retribution after he discovered a video of the police chief’s son, Evan Cossette, brutalizing an inmate. The captain went on to testify against Cossette, who was later convicted. That’s when Gaynor was fired.

It’s appalling that a police captain would be fired for doing the right thing. We, the undersigned, demand that this injustice be corrected and the police captain re-instated.

  1. Susan Stalow says:

Flog those pathetic cretins, to ribbons-

  2. This police captain had the courage to speak out and testify in court against a corrupt officer, and then gets fired for it?? It should be completely obvious that whoever fired him is corrupt and did it in revenge. Should be an open and shut case, I think, I hope.
