Don’t Allow Drilling to Destroy the Environment

Target: Wayne Rosenthal, Director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources

Goal: Don’t allow fracking to destroy the landscape of Illinois.

Illinois may soon be under threat of the damaging, destructive, and deadly practice of fracking. The state’s first application seeking approval to drill for natural gas has been submitted to the Department of Natural Resources. Woolsey Companies Inc. is the company behind the proposal.

Fracking has been proven to pollute fresh water, lead to earthquakes, kill animals, and sicken humans. The damage fracking, also known as hydraulic fracturing, can cause is irreversible.

Until now, Illinois has escaped the effects of natural gas drilling. The state’s land and water have remained untouched by the natural gas industry. Sign the petition and ask the Department of Natural Resources to keep it that way by denying the application.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Rosenthal,

Fracking has led to water pollution, explosions, earthquakes, illness, and even death. The damage and destruction caused by fracking has led some states and nations to ban the practice.

While fracking in Illinois is legal, I ask that you seriously consider the effects that fracking will have on your state. Consider not the short-term economic gains, but instead the long-term, irreversible environmental damage. Do not approve your state’s recent fracking application.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Please kick Woolsey Companies Inc. out of the U.S.! Why should anyone even consider allowing this or any other company to destroy the land, water supplies, environment and wildlife by fracking?!
