Demand Universal Healthcare in California

Target: Jerry Brown, Governor of California

Goal: Get single payer healthcare passed.

For months, Californians have been full of hope that the state might finally achieve universal healthcare. Democrats had expected to comfortably pass a bill that would have established a single payer healthcare system. Under this system, the state would have paid the costs of healthcare for its residents; thus largely eliminating the nightmare of premiums, deductibles, lifetime caps, copays and other punishments meted out on consumers by the current system.

Now, that bill has been indefinitely shelved by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. A Democrat, Rendon pointed out the bill remains incomplete, including no clear funding framework. This is unacceptable, and California deserves better. If you believe California needs universal healthcare, then sign this petition demanding single payer healthcare.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Brown,

Californians are demanding universal healthcare, but so far Democrats have failed to deliver. This is epitomized by the recent decision by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon to shelve a bill that would have established a single payer healthcare system across the state. Studies have repeatedly shown that single payer is more efficient than the existing system, and will provide cheap, reliable healthcare to all Californians.

The indefinite stalling of this proposal is a deep disappointment, and sends a message to the rest of the nation: that California simply isn’t ready to become a national leader and role model in the healthcare debate. We believe our elected representatives must do better, and demand you work with lawmakers to create single payer healthcare legislation that works. For many Californians, this is literally a life or death situation, and we need a solution.

Sincerely,

  4. RoseMarie Dorer says:

UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SHOULD ALSO MEAN THAT ELECTED OFFICIALS MUST USE THE SAME HEALTH CARE.

Elected officials should have to use exactly the same health care American taxpayers get and nothing more, nothing extra, NOTHING BETTER. If it’s good enough for US, it’s GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM.

ELECTED DOES NOT MEAN ENTITLED TO BE ENRICHED.
