Trump: Clarify False Claims From Iowa Rally

Target: Donald Trump

Goal: Clarify false statements from a recent rally in Iowa.

President Trump made several inaccurate claims at a recent “Make America Great Again” rally in Iowa. He said that “all [insurance companies have] fled the state of Iowa” and insurers are “leaving all of the states.” He said his administration has deported thousands of members of the MS-13 gang, when the number is truly in the hundreds.

Trump also suggested that the Paris Climate Agreement is legally binding, which it is not. He vastly inflated the amount the U.S. has spent in the Middle East since 2001, and he proposed an already-existing law that would ban immigrants from welfare benefits for five years.

While boldly making false or misleading claims is nothing new for Donald Trump, his position as president makes his inclination to lie all the more dangerous. Add your name to the petition below to demand that President Trump acknowledge and publicly correct these false statements.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

At a recent rally in Iowa, you made several statements that were later found to be either incredibly misleading or blatantly false. You exaggerated the amount the U.S. has spent in the Middle East since 2001, suggested creating a law that already exists, inaccurately said that the Paris Agreement is legally binding, and inflated the number of MS-13 gang members your administration has deported by a factor of ten.

Someone in your position cannot be allowed to lie to the public without any consequence or apparent awareness of the impact of those lies. I demand that you acknowledge the false claims you made at your Iowa rally and publicly correct them.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
