Stop Trump From Gutting Housing Funding for the Poor

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Commit to increasing funding for the homeless.

President Donald Trump’s yet-to-be-announced federal budget will dramatically reduce funding to programs that provide shelter to the homeless and fight poverty, according to a report in the Washington Post. The budget itself remains under wraps, but according to the Post it will not only roll back funding for shelters, but also gut nearly $1 billion from a voucher program that effectively subsidizes housing for low income families.

In total, the budget reportedly calls for a nearly 29 percent reduction in funding to public housing. Strangely though, these massive cuts reportedly won’t touch one specific kind of housing subsidy that’s paid directly to landlords. As a landlord, Trump himself has received at least $5 million from the subsidy since the start of 2016, according to the Post.

If you think this budget seems unjust, please sign our petition demanding Trump commit to not touching housing funding for the poor and homeless.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. President,

According to the Washington Post, your not-yet-released federal budget plan will slash nearly $1 billion in housing subsidies for low income families, while also dramatically rolling back funding for homeless shelters and other programs for the poor. On the other hand, it will reportedly preserve a special kind of subsidy paid directly to landlords such as yourself. This is a classic example of welfare for the rich, and more cruel punishment for the millions of Americans who are just trying to get by in today’s tough economic climate. We therefore demand you commit to protecting housing funding for the poor and homeless.

Sincerely,

  1. Part of Trump’s plan to make the poor ever-yet poorer and the rich – including himself – ever-yet richer.
This is an outrage and must NOT happen.

NOBODY CAN GET RICH! STOP CUTTING SHELTER FUNDS NOW!
