Ban Cancer-Causing Pesticide

Target: Jean-Claude Juncker, European Union (E.U.) Commission President

Goal: Ban the use of herbicides containing the possibly cancer-causing chemical glyphosate from all E.U. member nations.

After the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recently cited reports that glyphosate, a chemical found in some of the most popular pesticides worldwide, including Roundup, was “unlikely” to cause cancer, environmental groups and scientists cried foul. The cited reports appear to have been based on studies funded by the pesticide industry, causing many to cast doubt on their validity.

Despite this, the E.U. is considering extending the approved use of glyphosate in member nations for 10 years. As a result, over a million concerned European Union citizens have petitioned the E.U. Commission to ban the use of glyphosate once and for all. We must lend our voices to theirs and demand that farmers stop using this potentially harmful chemical.

The World Health Organization’s own independent research has concluded that glyphosate is a likely carcinogen, while other scientists have pointed to data which shows that the chemical may cause liver and kidney damage. According to one study, even small amounts of exposure to glyphosate may cause hormonal changes in humans, leading to possible reproductive issues and birth defects.

As long as there is uncertainty surrounding glyphosate and its possible effects on humans and the environment its use must be restricted or banned worldwide. Sign this petition to demand that the E.U. Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker lend his support for this necessary ban.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Juncker,

Despite recent reports from the EFSA claiming that the chemical glyphosate, commonly found in pesticides such as Roundup, is “unlikely” to cause cancer, there is a large body of evidence from independent researchers which suggests this is not the case. The reports cited by EFSA were largely funded and generated by those representing the pesticide industry’s interests, which may not be presenting the full story when it comes to the health effects of this chemical.

As long as there is a shadow of doubt surrounding glyphosate’s safety, it must not be authorized for use. I urge you not to allow the E.U. Commission to extend the approved use of glyphosate for the next 10 years, but instead to call for a full ban of this potentially cancer-causing chemical.

Sincerely,

  1. Any consumer that uses this product is no better than the manufacturer. Boycott! Boycott! Boycott!
    Consumers are the problem!

    • Consumers should boycott these products, yes. But many of the consumers – farmers – are being bullied and threatened by Monsanto to use their products in the first place. They are terrified to NOT use them. Monsanto uses threats, bullying, deceit and bribes to force their products onto unwilling people.
Monsanto should be kicked out of every country worldwide.
Please check out the documentary The World According to Monsanto.

  2. Read about the unsealed court documents on the collusion between Monsanto and the EPA to bury the truth about Roundup/glyphosate here!

No one in their right mind should be buying this shit…or ANYTHING by Monsanto, frankly!

  3. And, in most recent news:
A federal judge in the United States recently ordered Monsanto to release 250 pages of internal documents, and what they revealed is practically criminal: Monsanto has known for 17 YEARS that glyphosate could cause cancer.

The released documents — dubbed the “Monsanto papers” — show Monsanto has been manipulating research, colluding with a senior government official at the US Environmental Protection Agency, and providing BOGUS articles to government agencies — all to refute the fact that glyphosate is a carcinogen.

Monsanto has proven itself completely untrustworthy and an ongoing risk to public health.

  4. Finally. The USA is behind other European nations, even Canada our dog and cat, eating, horse slaughtering neighbor bans Roundup. Let’s start somewhere, Please.
