Success: Uber To Make Changes Addressing Sexism and Sexual Harassment

Target: Uber board of directors

Goal: Support the decision to reform the company by implementing recommendations to deal with issues of sexism and harassment.

After a series of scandals related to the company’s treatment of women, Uber has announced it will implement an overhaul to ensure that its executives will be supervised more closely by the board of directors. Co-founder and chief executive Travis Kalanick also announced he will take an indefinite leave of absence — the latest of many executive departures and employee firings in the wake of the exposure Uber’s toxic work environment to the public and petitions like this one at ForceChange.

Over 100 female employees came forward after a former employee wrote a blog post calling the company out for what she referred to as a history of sexual harassment and a failure of the company’s management to respond. In order to reform, Uber held a meeting and released 13 pages of recommendations that they will now follow. Former attorney general Eric H. Holder Jr., along with his law firm, compiled the recommendations based on his investigation into the sexism and harassment incidents within the company. Sign below to support Uber’s commitment to resolving these issues and ensuring the safety and fair treatment of all its employees.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Members of Uber’s Board of Directors,

Thank you for committing to take the necessary steps to combat sexism, sexual harassment, and a toxic work environment within your company. These issues are not to be taken lightly, and you are fulfilling your responsibility as part of the company in addressing them seriously.

Uber’s employees have a right to feel safe at work, and as such a prominent company, Uber must begin putting a better foot forward. I support Uber’s resolution to implement the recommendations to combat sexism and harassment in the workplace.

Sincerely,
