Do Not Fire Special Counsel Overseeing FBI’s Russia Probe

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Do not demand firing of Robert Mueller, the counsel appointed to oversee the FBI’s investigation into possible Russian collusion during the presidential election.

President Trump is considering firing the current overseer of the Russia investigation, even though the rest of the administration does not seem to support the idea. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department to oversee the FBI’s probe into Russia’s possible meddling in the 2017 election and potential collusion with Trump’s campaign. Technically the authority to fire Mueller belongs to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the Justice Department, but President Trump could order Rosenstein to do it.

Republican lawmakers, including some who are usually in agreement with the President, have spoken up advising against firing Mueller. Two senior Republican senators said, “It would be a disaster,” and called it an “extraordinarily unwise move.” Speaker of the House Paul Ryan told a conservative commentator, “I think he should let Bob Mueller do his job, do his job independently, and do his job quickly, because I think that that’s what he would want to have happen.” It is vital to the well-being of our democracy that the Russian investigation continue to run smoothly. Sign below to demand that President Trump refrain from demanding that Mueller be fired.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. President,

As the leader of the United States of America, you have a responsibility to protect this country and uphold democracy. When it comes to implementing those things, the smooth and swift progression of the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s possible involvement in the U.S. presidential election is key. This cannot happen without stability in the oversight of the probe.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel by the Justice Department to oversee the investigation because he is extremely capable of doing so. Multiple Republican lawmakers have spoken out in support of allowing Mueller to continue doing his job, and to bring the investigation to an efficient conclusion. I urge you to heed their advice, and not to fire Robert Mueller as the overseer of the FBI’s Russia probe.

Sincerely,

After all, Firing Special Counsel Mueller would be the same as ADMISSION OF GUILT!!

  2. Dixie Denis says:

Trump has to go. Plenty more reasons besides that to have him impeached anyway like relentless attacks on human/animal rights + environmental issues. The creep is a menace.
