Oppose Trump’s Drastic Cuts to Renewable Energy

Target: Thad Cochran, Chairman of Senate Appropriations Committee

Goal: Reject massive proposed cut to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

The Trump Administration has proposed a 69 percent cut to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. This comes at a time when countries such as China are planning significant expansion of renewable energy research and production.

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is a primary driver of clean energy research. It has been the driving force behind advancements such as rooftop solar panels, LED lighting and electric vehicle battery technology. In addition, the office establishes appliance efficiency standards, which are projected to save a total of $2 trillion between 1987 and 2030.

A bipartisan group of seven former senior Department of Energy officials has submitted a letter to Congress formally objecting to the proposed budget cut. They warn that a funding reduction of that magnitude would restrict future innovation and hurt America’s standing as leaders in alternative energy technology development. This concern is echoed by the business community, as the chamber of commerce sent a letter signed by 14 leaders of major corporations to Congress urging that funding for clean energy be maintained.

We must oppose a budgetary assault on renewable energy technology whose consequences will far outlast the Trump administration. Please sign the below petition calling on congressional leadership to reject this proposed cut.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chairman Cochran,

I am writing to urge that you reject the proposed 69 percent budget cut to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The United States has led the way in clean energy innovation, with the EEMR driving evolution of rooftop solar, LED lighting and electric vehicle battery technology. As you are aware, there is consensus among former Department of Energy leaders of both political parties, and major corporations, that the proposed cut will cripple future innovation and hurt America’s standing in the world.

We cannot afford to move backward in renewable energy development at a time when China and India are transitioning to economies fueled clean energy. The consequences of implementing this budget cut will be felt far beyond the Trump era.

Sincerely,

Thad, Please oppose this the man is too ignorant on this matter!

  3. Paulette Mirfield says:

Coal pollutes the air, the water, coal mining destroys nature, dangerous to miners from black lung disease and cave ins. Renewable energy from the sun and wind do none of these things. One is a dying industry, one is up and coming. Do you really have to think about it?

    • My grandfather once worked the mines. He broke every bone in his legs after a mine collapsed on him. I remember he used to walk weird because of that. Finally, his son came back from war and got him out of mining. He knew he had to get him out of it or he would have died at a even younger age than he did.

Please stop being ignorant Mr. Trump and show your good faith to the people.

  4. Trump has to be the dumbest, most ignorant piece of shit on the planet! STUPID plain and simple!

  5. Wind Turbines are Ugly, Dangerous and Kill Millions of Birds, Eagles, bats, anything that flies, every year. We do not like the turbine fields polluting our landscape, Ugly. They remind me of windmills of old, they had on farms to pump water, how is that innovative?? Get them taken down and never to be used again.

You support a pussy-grabbing know-nothing, I’m sure you give a shit about animals. You willfully ignorant piece of trash.

      • Hey, she has a valid point. Don’t crucify her for it! What she says is true – they do cause the deaths of millions of animals. Don’t you care about them?
I’m not against wind turbines myself, but do think that all wind turbines should have to have safety features to prevent the tragic deaths of animals.

  6. Stop destroying everything we worked for the last 50 yrs. Stop ruining our country!

Fucking piece of SHIT. Are you “MAGA” hicks happy?!

  8. Kathryn Irby says:

Trump is the Destroyer-in-Chief, who would kill his own grandmother to line his pockets; now, his agenda is to cut Renewable Energy–what NEXT????????? STOP THIS SHIT ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!

  9. I can’t seem to fathom as to why Trump would not advocate the development and production of renewable energy. There are so many incentives to go into solar right now and so little deterrents. This can be seen especially in Trump’s very own, New York City. There is no excuse as to why solar is not the way to go.
