EPA: Ban Dangerous Pesticide That Causes Birth Defects

Target: Scott Pruitt, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency

Goal: Stop refusing to ban a dangerous pesticide that is responsible for birth defects and child development issues.

The EPA refuses to ban the pesticide chlorpyrifos, which is a chemical pesticide that, based on research, is responsible for birth defects and developmental disorders and delays in children. The chemical has been used for years to get rid of bugs in homes and in fields, but recent studies have shown that there are dangerous effects on not just children but endangered animals and plant life as well. Despite all of this, Scott Pruitt has denied a bid to get the pesticide banned.

While this may seem like a small thing in the long run, it is very dangerous. This is not only denial and enabling of the continued endangerment of children’s development, but another subtle attack on science. The EPA, under Trump’s administration, rejects scientific evidence in favor of allowing companies to produce more of the pesticide, putting the monetary gain over the safety of human, animal and plant life.

This cannot continue. The EPA must recognize chlorpyrifos as the danger it is and take seriously science’s efforts to remove it from our lives. Sign this petition to demand that Scott Pruitt support the ban on this dangerous chemical.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Administrator Pruitt,

Scientific studies have proven that there are links between continued exposure to chlorpyrifos and developmental disorders and birth defects in children. In addition, the chemical is harmful to endangered animals and plant life. Despite knowing this however, you have chosen to reject a ban on this chemical.

You must take this threat seriously. While it may seem like a small problem now, the lasting damages add up, and the chemical will wreak havoc on not just human development but the entire planet. Chlorpyrifos is dangerous, and it has been proven as such. Therefore there is no need for it to be produced. There are safer ways of keeping bugs at bay in homes and in fields. Please support and allow a ban on this pesticide. Please put the well-being of the environment and the population first.

Sincerely,

This evidence has been around for way more than 20 years and yet the EPA in most western countries still use it. Only countries that care about their citizens have banned the stuff a long time ago.

    • Yes, and I just read about that yesterday. It is scary how the company that produces the pesticide was coddled by the government. It’s all about money. It’s truly scared and truly awful. The people of the USA need to be more informed about this dreadful, deadly chemical! What countries have banned it, that was not in the article I read?

  4. Richard Hofman Richard Hofman says:

Ha,ha,ha no worries because now we are going the most right way to exictinc of this planet anyway as it’s written-microchipped in ours brains already…
There is not any big help for us because like a fish itself can’t destroy its own pond so we can’t help we-self to do a change…
We will happily continuing in destroying this planet hand in hand with ourselves!!!

    • There aren’t microchips in our brains. That is false, it is not biblical. How can there be? Not everyone goes to a doctor and gets put under anesthesia for the so called planting of microchips! Where are your facts about the microchips? Not trying to argue with you Richard. God Bless.
