Justice for 55 Animals and a Child Allegedly Allowed to Suffer in Horrific Conditions

Target: Jack Campbell, State Attorney, 2nd Judicial Curcuit, Florida

Goal: Seek the maximum possible penalty against those accused of letting a young child and 55 animals live in filthy and unsafe conditions.

Four people have been arrested in connection with a raid that removed 55 animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and chickens, from what investigators have called overcrowded and squalid conditions. The animals reportedly suffered an array of medical conditions, including parasites, open wounds, skin diseases, and flea infestation. Due to the fact that a child was also forced to live in the home, one woman is also facing a felony charge of child neglect. The child was also removed from the home.

According to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigators, who helped the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office remove the animals from the home, several dogs were chained outside without water or shelter. Chickens were found in tiny, cramped cages surrounded by feces and trash. The animals are being cared for at the Escambia County Animal Services located in Pensacola, Florida, which will help to find homes for the animals once they receive much-needed medical care and treatment.

According to Adam Leath, Southeast regional director of ASPCA Field Investigations and Response, “It’s apparent that these animal victims have been living in deplorable conditions for quite some time.”

This type of treatment toward not only these animals, but an 11-year-old girl, is absolutely disgusting. In order to save more animals from this treatment, it’s imperative that authorities take this case seriously. Sign the petition below to ask the prosecutor to seek the maximum possible penalties for anyone convicted in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Campbell,

An 11-year-old girl and 55 animals were recently removed from a home where they were allegedly forced to live in filthy and overcrowded conditions. The animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and chickens, suffered from parasites, open wounds, skin diseases, and flea infestation. Several dogs were chained outside without water or shelter, while chickens were found in tiny, cramped cages surrounded by feces and trash.

This is absolutely unacceptable, and in order to prevent more animals from suffering in similar situations, the state must take a hard stance against the accused. We, the undersigned, ask you to seek the harshest possible penalty for anyone found guilty in this case.

Sincerely,

Unacceptable. The public demands full retribution as allowed by law. NO EXCUSES PUT FORTH! FULL PUNISHMENT BY LAW.

  2. Margaret Melnick says:

I hope they all are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and ban from being around animals or children for the rest of their sick cruel lives.

  3. These scums of the earth shoule be prosecuted to the harshiest conidition of the law. Felonies, prison time and fees. Plus, throw away the key forever!

  4. Rosslyn Osborne says:

This is really unacceptable for a parent to have her child and animals live in this type of manner.
Now the child is taken away and placed in an alien environment for no reason caused by her. I pray that she will survive this event in her life.
I hope that all the animals will fined new caring and loving homes. As for the so-called adults who were supposed to be in charge of these animals and child, I hope they are charged and counselled before being allowed free on the streets again.

  5. What I would LOVE is to see these inbred low-lives drawn and quartered! Guess what? After being drawn and quartered, they can never hurt another animal nor child again!
