Paralyzed Baboon Reportedly Left to Die in Pool of Blood and Urine Deserves Justice

Target: National Council of SPCAs Executive Director, Marcelle Meredith

Goal: Hold zoo staff responsible for allegedly neglecting baboon who suffered until he had to be put down.

A male baboon, named William, had to be put down after the East London Zoo reportedly neglected his health. William was found by the NSPCA in a late state of paralysis. The The National Council of SPCAs warned that William would have to be examined by a veterinarian, but the staff reportedly neglected the poor creature, causing him to suffer extensively. According to the NSPCA staff, William’s bodily condition was “shocking.” His movement was severely limited and he had to drag his lower body around, they said. The NSPCA inspectors issued a warning requiring the zoo to have the baboon examined by a veterinarian and the report forwarded to them. The zoo allegedly failed to do that, and William’s condition had deteriorated by the next day.

The inspectors said that the baboon had open‚ bleeding wounds and segments of his flesh were visible. William was found in the exact area as the previous day, with the concrete floor around him covered in blood. They also added that the “stench of urine was overpowering and unbearable.” Flies were swarming around the animal. “In my opinion‚ the baboon was in severe distress‚” said Inspector Cassandra McDonald. There is no reason this innocent animal should’ve suffered this badly. William died a senseless, painful death, all because he wasn’t properly cared for at the zoo. Please add your signature to the petition below to demand that William the baboon be given the justice he deserves.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Meredith,

A baboon, named William, reportedly had to be euthanized after being neglected by East London Zoo staff. According to the NSPCA, the baboon’s bodily conditions were shocking when they arrived and warned the zoo that he had to be seen by a vet. They allegedly ignored the poor animal’s needs, and now he’s dead.

We, the undersigned, are calling on you to seek justice for William the baboon who died a senseless, cruel death. Please see to it that zoo staff are held responsible for this alleged case of animal neglect and cruelty.

Sincerely,

This is so horrible and heartbreaking. This was a needless death that should never have happened. What is wrong with the caregivers of William? Have they no heart or compassion for the innocent animals in their care? These persons should be FIRED for their heinous neglect of this poor baboon. Wild animals don’t belong in zoos.

    • Unfortunately just firing these pieces of garbage from the zoo only means they’ll go somewhere else to do the same heinous neglect! 🙁 Better to cull and smite them to be sure it stops. If this happens enough to those neglectors, there won’t be neglect anymore!! Sad but true

  2. What has happened to England they used to care for animals im ashamed of you

      • Thank you for the clarification on the area Phillip, I was under the impression it was england as well. Knowing now that this was in south Africa I believe that EVERY single person at that zoo needs to dies horribly and slow

East London Zoo – Shame rains down on you. William suffered terribly. Way to go. William deserves justice for your putrid neglect!

  4. Close the Zoo! Place animals in reputable sanctuaries! Staff & administration = low-lives and should be fired!

  5. EVERY single person at that zoo that had even a minuscule of awareness of thi baboon’s condition needs to die today after an extensive period of painful suffering!!!

  6. This zoo should be closed down and all the animals removed and taken somewhere safe as the zoo keepers obviously are not fit to care for them.
Anyone that could knowingly allow an animal to suffer in this way should be prosecuted.
    Let’s see what happens.

  7. Elaine Milbourn says:

Anyone who allows something like this to happen is incapable of caring for any animal. Those responsible for this cruelty should lose their jobs. If that doesn’t happen, the other animals are at risk.

  8. Punish these bastards now close them down. Let these people who done this die like that. This world is cruel and these people need to be punished fully.

Making money with animals suffering in captivity and then even torture them to death – I’m so damn disgusted by my own selfish, reckless, megalomaniac, greedy, destructive and worthless species!

  14. Nooshin Perla says:

These kind of people who have no compassions or heart should NOT be able to work with animals. Best job for them is to work in a saluter house. All I have to say is, I hope they pay for what they did very very soon.
