Fire Professor Who Allegedly Failed Student for Being Muslim

Target: Margaret M. McMenamin, Ed.D., President of Union County College, New Jersey

Goal: Demand that a college fire the professor who allegedly failed a Muslim student because the student stood up to her anti-Muslim sentiments.

A professor allegedly failed a student for being Muslim. Per a pending lawsuit, the professor expressed anti-Muslim sentiments during class and the Muslim student disagreed, leading to the student failing the class. The professor reportedly stated that the student received F’s on several class assignments. Demand justice for this student.

“Do you even pray five times a day?” Professor Toby Grodner reportedly asked Sahna ElBanna this question during a discussion about her Muslim faith. Per the lawsuit, ElBanna challenged Grodner on her anti-Muslim statements and Grodner became defensive. ElBanna reportedly endured heated questioning about her own religious practice and eventually failed the class, though she received A’s on the two highest weighted assignments.

If these allegations are true, then this professor behaved in a highly inappropriate manner and must face the consequences. Sign below and demand that the college fire Grodner so that she can no longer use her anti-Muslim beliefs against students.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President McMenamin,

A professor reportedly failed a Muslim student because of her religious beliefs. The professor allegedly became defensive when the student challenged her anti-Muslim statements and failed her despite her high marks. We demand justice for this student.

ElBanna was reportedly interrogated on her personal religious practice and eventually failed Grodner’s class, despite receiving high marks on two assignments worth 60 percent of her grade. ElBanna reportedly passed a previous class with Grodner, but had remained silent when the professor made negative remarks about Muslims.

Students should never be punished because of a professor’s personal beliefs. If these allegations are proven true, then we demand that you fire Grodner so that no other student will be treated unjustly.

Sincerely,

  1. If her allegations are true, this professor was completely in the wrong in failing her. He may disagree with her religion, but the fact that he disagrees should have nothing to do with the grades he gives her.

  2. This professor is so in the wrong! how insane are people! This has nothing to do with who she is! digusting!

  3. This professor didn’t do that the student lied. This is b.s.
