Target: Maurice Mendenhall, Manager of the Tanger Outlet Center
Goal: Ensure birds do not become trapped and die on the mall’s roof in the future.
Recently, birds were found trying to get themselves free from an overhang on top of the roof of the Tanger Outlet Center in Tuscola, Illinois. Several birds have already suffered and have died. According to PETA, the mall took several days to do anything about this issue, and did not act timely to see that the suffering and injured birds got medical help. Because this mall’s response to the issue was so belated, many birds suffered, were horribly injured and unfortunately died.
However, it is encouraging that eventually the mall did do something to take care of the issue and even pledged not to allow something like this to happen again. They must keep their word ensure the future safety of birds and of other animals. Because such a horrible incident had to occur involving the death of many innocent birds, this mall should draft a plan that will ensure their mall is animal-proof and animal-safe.
Please sign this petition to ensure the future safety of animals and to encourage the Tanger Outlet Center in Tuscola, Illinois to act more immediately so that innocent animals do not have to die. The mall must formulate a plan in the future that will include veterinary care for the animals.
Dear Mr. Mendenhall,
I want to thank you for eventually doing something about the trapped and dying bird issue. However, I must convey that I was saddened to hear that so many birds had to die first before you took any action.
I want to kindly urge you to please set a good example in acting in a timely matter to animals that are trapped and dying. Please be reminded that it is illegal in the state of Illinois to treat animals cruelly. Please ensure the future safety of animals by implementing a plan that will immediately notify animal rescue and provide veterinary care for all animals that are injured.
