James Comey: Return To Senate To Testify On Trump

Target: James Comey, Former FBI Director

Goal: Accept Senate request to testify on the Trump-Russia investigation.

Members of the U.S. Senate have announced that they want James Comey, who Donald Trump recently fired as director of the FBI, to return to the Senate floor to testify on the investigation into the 2016 election, possible interference by Russia, and possible ties between Russia and Trump himself. The Senate has also asked Andrew McCabe, who is now the acting FBI director, to testify on the investigation.

Senator Richard Burr, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Senator Mark Warner have publicly requested that Mr. Comey testify. Donald Trump fired Comey under the pretense that Comey had mishandled the Hillary Clinton email investigation. However, Trump had praised Comey’s handling of the investigation in the past, and now sources have suggested that Trump asked Comey to stop investigating former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. (If this is proven to be true, it could be considered obstruction of justice, which would qualify Trump for impeachment.)

The sudden firing of an FBI director by a president who is currently under investigation is cause for grave concern. Considering the shaky relationship the Trump administration has with the media and the truth, it is crucial that Comey return to the Senate and testify on the Russia investigation. Add your name to the petition below to voice your support for this requested testimony.

Dear Mr. Comey,

Senators Richard Burr and mark Warner recently requested that you return to the U.S. Senate to provide testimony on the FBI investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. You were allegedly terminated by Donald Trump based on your handling of the Clinton email investigation, but public opinion (and Trump’s former praise of your investigation) largely holds this to be illegitimate.

Considering the fact that Trump fired the FBI director at a time when he is the subject of many questions surrounding the election and his relationship with Russia, it is incredibly important that you testify to the Senate again regarding the Russia investigation. Furthermore, if indeed Mr. Trump urged you to stop investigating Michael Flynn, testifying to that effect could be a vital first step in impeaching Trump.

I ask that you grant the Senate’s request and return to testify further. It is possible that your testimony regarding Trump and Russia will set the impeachment process in motion before this administration does further damage.
