Target: Governor Sam Brownback
Goal: Stop the absurd funding for an unnecessary and pointless “pro-life” memorial.
Wichita, Kansas has undergone serious budget cuts in the past few months, but that is not stopping the town from planning to construct a multi-million dollar “pro-life” memorial in the middle of the town. The name for the place apparently is to be the National Pro-Life Memorial and International Life Center. According to project leader Pastor Mark Holick from Spirit One Church, the memorial is a necessary place for people to come to memorialize the “children” that have been lost to abortion. Other organizers of the project have concluded that half a million people would come to “grieve and seek support.” Where those numbers came from is anybody’s guess.
While the town continues to worship aborted embryos, the steep budget cuts the town has faced and will continue to face are hurting valuable social support programs that have helped vulnerable children in the past. According to Shannon Cotsoradis, president of a leading child support group called Kansas Action for Children, the budget cuts, “will have devastating consequences for Kansas children and families.”
Urge Kansas governor Sam Brownback to put a stop to this ridiculous project that both wastes valuable funds and further degrades a woman’s inalienable right to choose whether or not she carries a fetus full-term.
Dear Governor Brownback,
I write to you in regard to an outrageous project developing in Wichita, Kansas. While many vulnerable children suffer due to the lack of funds for social support programs, it has apparently become the priority of Wichita’s town leaders to construct a multi-million dollar memorial to “honor” aborted fetuses.
Governor, this does not make sense to me. In addition to further degrading a woman’s right to choose, the construction of the center would cost a senseless amount of money that should be used somewhere else. With all the tax cuts Wichita has undergone lately, I do not understand why millions of dollars are to be spent on such a pointless center.
I urge you to think of the children that live and breathe on this planet instead of the embryos that women, for their own personal and medical reasons, have chosen to abort in the past. The fact that anyone would support such a senseless idea such as this “pro-life” center frightens me. Please put a stop to this project for women everywhere, and for the children that are not currently inside of a woman’s uterus.
