Justice for Dog Thrown Into Fire Pit

Target: Scott Kolody, Commanding Officer of the Manitoba RCMP

Goal: Find and punish children accused of throwing a dog into a fire.

Police are looking for the people responsible for throwing a dog into a fire pit, causing severe burns. According to Katie Powell, founder of Save a Dog Network Canada, a group of children took the dog, an 8-month-old puppy named Polo, and threw him into a fire pit in Red Sucker Lake First Nation, Manitoba. She went on to say that Polo “came home with smoke bubbling from his nose. He had second degree burns on anything that wasn’t covered in fur.”

The poor dog had patches of fur missing as well as some blisters. Some of the dog’s fur melted into his skin, causing lesions. His, nose, paws, mouth, and other areas were raw and severely damaged, and his eyes were left with ulcers from smoke damage. Investigators say that the pup’s fur saved his life — if he had a shorter coat, he would have died.

Fortunately, he survived the ordeal and is now recovering at the Tuxedo Animal Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. RCMP are currently investigating, but have not made any arrests. Rights group PETA is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who comes forward with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible.

This act was blatantly cruel and could have resulted in the death of this innocent animal. Because of this cruelty, Polo will suffer for a long time, and may have lifelong disabilities. Sign the petition below to demand that the people responsible for this horrendous act are punished to the fullest extent of the law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Kolody,

A dog was recently thrown into a fire pit, allegedly by a group of children. The dog suffered severe burns to his entire body, particularly his eyes, nose, mouth, paws, and testicles. Investigators say that he would have died if he had a short coat — his fur protected him from a lot of damage but also melted into his skin, causing lesions.

This horrendous act caused extreme suffering to an innocent animal, and could even result in disability or chronic pain for the rest of Polo’s life. We, the undersigned, ask that you work hard to find and punish the people responsible for this heartless act of cruelty.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. This is juvenile delinquency. Youth and immaturity cannot be used as excuses for this. Behaviour like this can only be described as psychopathic and suggests a severe lack of morals, judgement and character in these children. They will go on to hurt other animals and probably bully and hurt other children if they are not severely dealt with now

  2. Kathryn Irby says:

Prosecute the Negligent Parents of these bratty minor children, who threw this innocent, loving dog into a fire–NOW!!!

  3. Sharon Morris says:

This is appalling. I am mortified that no one stopped this disgraceful act of terrorism. Please make sure these children are severely punished This poor puppy didn’t deserve this horrific treatment. These children should be on an abusers list of animals and never be allowed to own an animal.

  4. Selena Brooks says:

Prosecute them as adults since they think animal abuse is okay and hold the parents accountable for the veterinarian bills for Polo along with 1 year of volunteer work at a shelter. This is getting out of control what are these poor excuses of parents doing? It’s called SUPERVISE YOUR EVIL CHILDREN!

  5. Attenzione si tratta di bambini parecchio malati di cervello e potenziali delinquenti – spero che si prendano seri provvedimenti e alla svelta!!!

  6. michelle taylor says:

I am ready, willing and able to help enact the required payback against animal abusers!

  7. These kids are potentially serial killers and if it were up to me, I would execute all of them and save society from their further depredations. They had no qualms about subjecting an animal to horrific pain; I have no qualms about quietly putting them down and that’s a lot more human than what they did to this pup.

  8. Obviously these children have experienced some form of violence… best to look at their families. They need to be held accountable and pay the price for such a disgusting heartless act.

  9. Just when you think you have read and heard it all! Nope just the tip of the iceberg ..lord where are thou!

  10. Michal Rosenthal says:

These kids will grow up to be murderers if nothing’s done about it!

  11. Alice Knight says:

When the RCMP find these children and they will, they should be given appropriate punishment for this horrible act of cruelty. The act of throwing a puppy into a fire is a conscience decision, one I am afraid was the wrong choice.
I find it difficult to have any sympathy for these children.
They need to take full responsibility for their behavior.
