Target: District Judge Dwight E. Peschel
Goal: Don’t prosecute father who killed his young daughter’s sexual abuser.
When the unnamed father of a 4-year old girl caught a family acquaintance sexually abusing his daughter, he struck the man repeatedly in the head, which ended in the abuser’s death. The father has shown remorse for his actions in killing the abuser, and his daughter, apart from mental trauma, is physically alright.
The father has not been charged, and the Lavaca County Sheriff said that the man was simply defending his daughter, and did not intend to kill her attacker. Police have stated that in the course of the father trying to take his daughter away, he struck the attacker several times in the head, and the man died of blunt force trauma to the head, according the coroner’s office. Now the case is heading to the district attorney’s office before it goes to a grand jury, pending investigation.
A father has every right to defend his children, especially from something as malicious as an attack by a sexual abuser. This Texas father did not intend to kill his daughter’s attacker, and merely attempted to remove his daughter from the situation. He should not be charged with murder or manslaughter. Ask the Lavaca County District Judge to not charge this father for defending his own child.
Dear Judge Peschel,
The Texas father who accidentally killed his daughter’s attacker has shown remorse for his actions, and was simply trying to defend his 4-year old daughter from a sexual attack. Every parent has the right to defend their child, and even the Lavaca County Sheriff has stated that he would have done the same thing, given the same situation.
The case has been turned over to the district attorney before it gets passed on to a grand jury. This Texas father does not deserve to be charged for defending his child. Please help him remain free of any charges, and ease the minds of parents everywhere by showing them that they can still defend their own children.
