Demand Justice for 1,000 Baby Chicks Cruelly Abandoned and Left to Die

Target: Bill Skelly, Constable Chief of the Lincolnshire Police Force

Goal: Punish the person who dumped 1,000 baby chicks on the side of the road.

Someone abandoned 1,000 day-old baby chicks and left them to die in an English field. By the time they were found, some had died or were in such ill health that they needed to be euthanized. Luckily, most of the young chicks made it and will be fine, but they could have easily all perished in the chilly weather with no food or shelter. The authorities are still searching for the perpetrator of this disturbing action, and it is imperative that he or she is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Hens fiercely guard their young, and help them find food and water for the first several weeks of their lives. At one day old, these chicks have not had any time to learn the essential life skills and would have surely suffered for it. Chicks require warmth, which they can usually get by huddling close to their mothers, but in this case they had only each other for warmth. Sign this petition to demand justice for these vulnerable baby chicks.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Constable Skelly,

One thousand baby chicks were found abandoned in a field months ago, left to die by some cruel person who has not yet been identified. They deserve justice, not inaction. Witnesses said it looked like a big yellow mass, and they weren’t even sure what the chicks were from a distance due to the sheer amount of them. It’s shocking that someone could be so heartless to look at these defenseless chicks and think it’s okay to just leave them unprotected in the elements.

Chicks need care from their mothers in the first few weeks of their lives, not to be unceremoniously dropped off in a field at only one day old. It’s astonishing that most of them survived, but we can not ignore the fact that many died and deserve justice. This person is walking free and possibly harming more animals. Please find the person responsible for this and punish them so no one else will think they could get away with harming hundreds or thousands of baby animals.

Sincerely,

    • Whoever did this should be punished. But dairy farms kill chicks every day with impunity. Total double standard. People should be up in arms about the cruelty going on in dairy farms as well.

  5. Doing this to one defenseless chick would have been bad enough, but a thousand?? Sick. Sickening.
