Punish Men Accused of Using Dating App to Rob and Assault Gay Men

Target: Britt Featherston, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas

Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the men who allegedly used a dating app to find gay men, rob, and assault them.

Four gay men were reportedly robbed and assaulted by suspects they met on a popular dating app. The suspects reportedly taunted and berated the men for being gay. Demand justice for these innocent men.

As part of this shocking hate crime, the suspects allegedly used the Grindr dating app to convince gay men to invite them into their homes. They would then reportedly assault, restrain with tape, and subject them to cruel homophobic slurs. Finally, the suspects allegedly stole the men’s cars and other belongings. Per police, this same pattern occurred four separate times with four separate men.

Anthony Shelton, Nigel Garrett, Chancler Encalade, and Cameron Ajiduah have all been indicted by a grand jury and charged with kidnapping, carjacking, conspiracy, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Sign below and demand that these men receive the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear U.S. Attorney Featherston,

Four gay men were reportedly kidnapped, assaulted, and robbed in a series of homophobic crimes. The suspects allegedly found the men on Grindr, a popular dating app for gay men. We demand justice for these innocent men.

Police reported that the gay men were restrained, physically assaulted, and subjected to cruel homophobic slurs. The federal indictment, issued by a grand jury, stated that the four suspects “caused bodily injury because of [victims’] sexual orientation.” This charge supersedes all local charges and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

This horrific hate crime cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
