Oppose Trump’s Panel On Nonexistent ‘Voter Fraud’

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Oppose creation of panel based on Trump’s false claims of voter fraud.

Donald Trump has launched a commission that will focus on “election integrity.” The panel was established with an executive order after several months of Trump’s claiming, with no evidence, that there was widespread voter fraud in the November 2016 presidential election.

Very soon after he took office, Trump claimed that more than 3 million illegal immigrants voted in the election. He used this claim to explain his loss of the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. He has never offered any proof to substantiate this outrageous figure. The new panel will be headed by Vice President Mike Pence and will reportedly focus on voter fraud allegations and other election issues.

The creation of a panel to investigate voter fraud, when the claim Trump made about voter fraud in the 2016 presidential election has never been proven, is absurd. In fact, lawmakers have long used inflated claims of voter fraud in order to pass legislation that makes it more difficult for minority and low-income citizens to vote. Add your name to the petition below to tell the Trump administration that you disagree with the creation of this panel.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. President,

You recently launched a commission meant to investigate voter fraud and other problematic election practices. You have been promising to create such a commission since you made outlandish (and still unproven) claims about voter fraud that you believe took place in the November 2016 election, in which you lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. In an attempt to explain this loss, you claimed that more than 3 million undocumented immigrants committed voter fraud and cast ballots for Clinton.

To make a claim about voter fraud on such an unprecedented scale without offering any proof of such an occurrence is to lie to the American people. The creation of a panel meant to investigate voter fraud, when there is no reason to believe that any voter fraud occurred in the election, sets a dangerous precedent. Many state lawmakers rely on false or inflated claims of voter fraud in order to further legislation that results in voter suppression, and your panel is at risk of functioning in the same way.

I strongly urge you to reverse your decision to launch this voter fraud panel in the continued absence of evidence to support your claims of voter fraud in the 2016 presidential election.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
