Save Theodore Roosevelt National Park From Oil Refinery

Target: Meridian Energy Group CEO William Prentice
Goal: Protect Theodore Roosevelt National Park: Say NO! to a Proposed Oil Refinery

Meridian Energy Group’s proposal to build a 55,000-barrel-a-day oil refinery just 3 miles from the border of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is a direct threat to the park’s air quality, scenic views and night skies, and dishonors President Roosevelt’s conservation legacy. But it’s not too late to speak up and tell Meridian NO!

Currently, Meridian is working on getting the necessary permits to begin construction of the refinery. National Parks Conservation Association needs your help to ensure this refinery is not built within view of President Roosevelt’s namesake national park.
Please tell Meridian Energy Group CEO William Prentice to find another location for the refinery.

Dear Mr. Prentice,

Theodore Roosevelt National Park stands as a testament to our country’s conservation legacy and the very president who helped shape it. Building an oil refinery at the doorstep of a national park threatens the air quality, park views, night skies, natural soundscape, cultural heritage and other resources that make this inspiring place worthy of national park status.

I urge you to protect these resources and immediately rescind your company’s proposal to develop a refinery within view of Theodore Roosevelt’s namesake park. You can find a more suitable location in North Dakota. Large-scale industrial development does not belong next to a national park.

I am sure you care about America’s natural and cultural heritage as much as I do. I hope you will reconsider the significance of this storied landscape and relocate your refinery to a more suitable location where Theodore Roosevelt National Park will not be affected.

  2. This is disgusting! Say NO to this oil refinery!

  3. Are you freaking kidding me? I voted for Trump… but WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING?? It is supposed to IMPROVE our beautiful country NOT TRASH IT. Our national treasures, lands and waterways should remain pure, clean and beautiful.

    • He lied to you. Nothing is sacred or safe from Trump as long as he and his friends can make money off of it. And he’ll claim that it will create jobs and sure it will but at what cost? I’m Canadian and I love visiting the USA, but there won’t be many pretty places to see, clean air to breath, clean water to swim or wildlife to see. He wants to deregulate every law and bill protecting the environment. Keep fighting!

  4. Money, that’s all these bloody people think of.
What sort of a dickhead would even think of having this oil refinery being so close to a beautiful National park anyway..they really have shit for brains..

  5. Alexandre Engelen says:

Really need this oil refinery? There are not enough oil products on the market? No other place to build this oil refinery?
Or is this again a Trump game to destroy nature?

  6. John Helmeke says:

Dear William Prentice, CEO, Meridean Energy Group,

Please set a good example for the oil industry. Donate funds to Theodore Nat. Park so it can buy the rights to enough land outside its borders to keep it air, water, and ground clean of pollution. National Parks are there to preserve a pristine nature.

    Thank you,
    John Helmeke

  7. Meridian welcomes regulations and has nothing to do with either side of the political isle. I hear they plan on building the cleanest refinery ever built which will set the new bar in emission standards. This will clean up the refining industry.

  8. Ed Sandoval says:

I would sign this if you weren’t asking for so much personal info. What will you ask for next, my ssn?
