Do Not Repeal Endangered Species Act

Target: Senator Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader

Goal: Don’t repeal federal protections for endangered species.

Senator Dean Heller of Nevada and Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky have introduced legislation that would basically repeal the Endangered Species Act and lead to the extinction of some of our nation’s most majestic plants and animals.

The Republican-backed legislation would give individual states, not the federal government, the power to decide which plants and animals should be added to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s list of endangered species. After five years, those species on the list could be removed. The fate of millions of at-risk animals would then rely on votes from Congress to be placed back on the list.

Although Republicans say this legislation is just returning power to the states, it is in reality sealing the fate of endangered plants and animals. The environment is not an issue reserved for the states. Its fate affects all Americans, regardless of where they live. Tell the Senate to reject this legislation and protect our endangered species.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Senator Schumer,

Your Republican colleagues in the Senate have introduced legislation that would effectively repeal the existing Endangered Species Act. The fate of millions of endangered species would rely on individual states, as well as votes from Congress.

Our fragile environment is not something that should fall under the rallying cry of “states’ rights.” The fate of the environment impacts all Americans and all living things. To allow this legislation to pass would completely destroy the plants and animals that call our country home. I ask that you work with your fellow senators and do all you can to ensure that this legislation does not pass.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

I’m from MINNESOTA, the brutality is unimaginable to these wolves. Mained, shot, traps on their faces, hunters laugh at their cruelty. If this passes they will torture the cubs, do even more damage. It is disgusting. Seems like trophy hunters are winning too. Government won’t be satisfied until every wild animal is annihilated. It is horrific. Our dogs are trapped too, makes me so sick.

So many animals were on the brink when the ESA was passed in 1973. In those 44 years many ecosystems and the animals that depend on them have made remarkable comebacks. It didn’t take long to pollute and destroy habitats, less than 100 years. Take away the ESA and things will go downhill rapidly.

We need to FIGHT this with every breath in our bodies. So many animals depend on us to keep them safe and alive.

Making America Great Again does NOT include repealing this act, and giving Deep Pockets free reign to destroy what it took decades to recover. What the hell are these idiots thinking?

  7. I VOTE NO TO WEAKEN PROTECTIONS FOR ALL ENDANGERED WILDLIFE NOW.

  8. This is so completely outrageous and irresponsible. Trumpf and his people are destroyers. They want to destroy because it profits them and they love it. Seems pretty psychopathic to me.
They must NOT be allowed to cause the devastation and extinction of ANY animals or plants. This destructive legislation needs to be stopped.

I already sponsor a pair of wolves. Now I am bloody mad to know that when they are old enough to be released they may be killed. What the hell does this government think they are doing? I would give anything to see a gov rnment official in a trap. That would be justice.
