Protect Immigrants From Further Abuse By Trump Administration

Target: John F. Kelly, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

Goal: Protect undocumented immigrants from the Trump administration.

President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security is considering harsher treatment of undocumented immigrants held in detainment. Under the new regulations and contracts, it would be acceptable to treat immigrants like actual criminals. Trump’s supporters have gleefully declared the “party over” after having complained about immigrants in detention centers being given clean sheets and outdoor recreation time. Should Trump’s plans go through, those same supporters will encourage the detention centers to be as cruel as possible to the immigrants held there.

This is a disgrace. Immigrant detention centers have many problems already, including detainees being denied medical care and held in solitary confinement. This is bad enough, but if Trump has his way, it will be even worse. We cannot allow this to happen. Sign this petition to demand the Trump administration’s plan to harm immigrants further be stopped before it can even begin to take root.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Kelly,

The Trump administration is aiming to make life painful and difficult for undocumented immigrants being held in detention centers. Despite the efforts of human rights advocates, detention centers have been bleak places where detainees were denied medical care and kept in isolation. The Trump administration aims to make it worse by loosening any regulations meant to keep the treatment of immigrants somewhat humane.

You cannot allow this. Undocumented immigrants are still human beings who deserve to be treated properly, not caged like animals and treated like criminals as Trump seems to think they should be. The president’s anti-immigrant bias has been crystal clear since day one, and this is just another example of his imposing bigotry on national policy. Please do not let him follow through with his plans. Protect undocumented immigrants from further abuse.

Sincerely,
