Stop H&M from Using Cruelly Sourced Leather

Target: Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of H&M

Goal: Stop H&M from using leather in its products.

Popular clothing brand H&M has already made a commitment to protect animals by no longer using fur and angora wool in its products, and claims that no animal should suffer for clothing. However, the company still uses leather for many of its products. It is time H&M drop all its animal products and go completely cruelty-free.

Cows used for leather face a variety of hardships daily. They are often confined in small, crowded spaces with limited access to food and clean water. Typically, the cows are branded, de-horned, castrated and have their tails docked, all without the use of painkillers. After these painful ordeals, the cows are shipped to slaughterhouses where many are skinned while still alive.

Sign this petition to demand H&M stop using leather in its products. The company already uses fake, cruelty-free leather for many of its products. It is time to make that the industry standard and stay true to the company’s commitment of preventing unnecessary animal cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Persson,

H&M has made some recent changes in order to stop needless animal suffering by no longer using fur and angora wool on any of its products. This was great news to hear, but unfortunately your company still uses leather, which comes from the bodies of tortured cows.

Cows used for leather face a variety of hardships and are typically treated as objects rather than living, feeling beings. They are often kept in small, cramped spaces where disease spreads rampant and access to food and water is limited. They are also usually castrated, de-horned, branded, and have their tails docked. After this torture, the cows are shipped to slaughterhouses, where many are skinned alive.

Not only is leather incredibly cruel, but it is also very toxic to the environment. Your company already utilizes fake, cruelty-free leather and it is time to start using that material for all products. As you have said before, no animal should suffer for fashion.

Sincerely,

Animal Welfare Over Profits!! Stop this inhumane practice NOW!

  2. DROP THE CRUEL LEATHER NOW TO SAVE GREAT LIVES FOR DYING FOR IT NOW.

  3. Selena Brooks says:

Animals need their skin and it’s not to dress selfish humans for fashion!

  4. Humans do not need animal skin for anything now.We have plenty of other materials to use. We do not live in the past when that’s all humans had. And for that matter, the people back then used everything part of the animals to survive. And they didn’t torture first. This is horrific!!! How would the owner of this company liked to get skinned alive.😓

  5. Dear Mr. Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of H&M

H&M has a ethical obligation to stop using leather in products that your store carries.
It really is imperative that your stores follow though on its commitment as to be a leader in
animal welfare. I’m sure you realize how much publicity your stores will garner. Not to mention how all the people who care about cruelty to animals will flock to H&M. I’m sure you won’t lose any profits, because everyone will see that you have put animal welfare above profits.
Look at all the vegetarian and Vegan restruants there are, that alone shows you how the tide is changing to become a world where animals will no longer be treated as a non-living things. But instead animals will be treated as beautiful, intelligent, beings with feelings that feel pain, hunger, thirst, happiness and love and joy all the same as people.
So Mr. Persson you must make your stores the flagship for animal welfare in the fashion retail world.
    Sincerely,

  6. LA MODA ES CRIMINAL Y YA NO QUEREMOS SER PARTE DE SUS CRÍMENES!!! DEJEN A LOS ANIMALES EN PAZ, NO NECESITAMOS PRODUCTO ANIMAL EN NUESTRAS VIDAS. 7. M.B. Hardy says:

I wonder about this. Isn’t leather just a byproduct of beef production? If so, then why not use the skins?

Then I read “Typically, the cows are branded, de-horned, castrated and have their tails docked, all without the use of painkillers. After these painful ordeals, the cows are shipped to slaughterhouses where many are skinned while still alive.” That’s illegal and, without backup, unbelievable.

Without more info, this shouldn’t be signed.

    • You can do your own research if you have doubts. By all means please do your own investigating about the leather industry. There’s a ton of info out there. And please come back and sign this if you become convinced of the cruelty of this business.

  8. Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of H&M:

  10. There is NO valid reason to torture and kill animals for their skins or for any other purpose. H&M needs to stop it’s involvement in this cruel industry.

  11. H&M states that no animal should ever suffer in the name of fashion, yet untold numbers of cattle whose skin is converted into leather for your products, including being skinned alive, is simply unconscionable. So, tell us again how no animal should ever suffer………
