Justice for 14 Dogs and One Cat Allegedly Kept in Deplorable Conditions

Target: John McCormick, County Attorney, Coos County, New Hampshire

Goal: Punish breeders accused of denying dogs food, water, and necessary veterinary care.

A couple is facing 44 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals after investigators uncovered a breeding operation that allegedly kept several animals in deplorable conditions. Fourteen dogs and one cat were removed from the home of John Dumas and Pamela Mansulla, who operated a breeding page on Facebook.

Authorities were first alerted to the situation because of a dog named Carmella, who had reportedly had three owners before being returned to the breeders. Carmella had extensive skin and eye problems, with oozing, red sores on her body and overgrown nails. After officials arrived at the home to perform a welfare check on her and saw that she was in bad shape, they obtained a warrant for the seizure of Carmella and the inspection of Mansulla’s other animals.

Per reports, the other dogs were thin, and had health problems that include skin and eye problems, injured paws, long nails, missing fur, and ear infections. Their coats were caked with feces and urine and several carried parasites such as roundworms and whipworms. Rescuers say that the animals had no food or water left for them, with the exception of one puppy that had a little bit of food.

This type of treatment of animals is unacceptable, particularly from “breeders” who sell their dogs for $1,500. In order to ensure that no more animals are subjected to this treatment, it’s important that these breeders are properly punished for any cruelty they are found guilty of. Sign below to ask the prosecutor to seek the maximum possible penalty in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Frasier,

A couple is facing 44 counts of animal cruelty for allegedly keeping several dogs in deplorable conditions, denying them food, water, and much-needed veterinary care. The dogs were found with various health issues, including skin and eye problems, injured paws, long nails, missing fur, and ear infections. Their fur was reportedly full of feces and urine, and they carried parasites such as roundworms and whipworms.

In order to ensure that no more animals are subjected to this alleged for-profit neglect, the people responsible must be punished. We, the undersigned, ask that you seek the maximum possible penalty for this couple, if they are found guilty.

Sincerely,

  1. Kathryn Irby says:

    Justice for these Animals NOW!!!!

  2. This is horrendous.
Is there a dog-breeding facility in existence that does NOT abuse dogs? I doubt it. They should all be permanently shut down.

    • Totally agree, and even IF animals aren’t abused! There’s NO logical or compassionate justification for adding to animal overpopulation, CAUSING both more homelessness/abandonment AND (misnamed) “mercy”-killing of millions of domesticated animals every year. Breeding MUST be stopped, no question!

  3. We need decent, strong rules and regulations that enforced and forbid puppy mills and that make legitimate breeders undergo inspections, etc to ensure animal safety and welfare. This is constantly happening across America and law makers are doing absolutely nothing to stop this – pitiful.

  4. Absolutely Angry says:

OMFG!!! Why are there no rules, regulations, mandatory pop up inspections or laws or enforced across all states to help these animals under the breeders greed while neglected of their health and well being in their care!
These scum bags need to forfeit everything and be stopped of their madness. Prosecuted to the full extent of the law and jail time mandatory so they can think about how their actions WERE WRONG!

  5. Until, IF or WHEN, humans evolve enough to be operating out of REAL love and compassion, AND, until all homeless animals have truly loving, caring homes, THIS is why BREEDING/BREEDERS *must* be outlawed everywhere!!! This entire industry, whether “registered” or “backyard” breeding, is wholly WRONG, plain and simple.

  6. I hate animal breeders. We don’t need more animals. Millions are killed every year, not having homes.
What kind of stupid, cruel society allows this to continue–especially, those making money despite deplorable abuse, scamming the public, terrifying dogs/cats/rabbits/etc.

Why do we allow people to make money on living beings? They are not toys or objects. They experience physical and emotional suffering similar to humans.

BAN THE BREEDING/SALE OF ALL ANIMALS!! It harms the animals and deceives the gullible often selfish buyers!

  7. MAKE THESE ANIMAL ABUSERS LIVE IN A CAGE AND FILTH NOW .

  8. NO MORE BREEDERS!!! WE NEED JAIL FOR THESE PEOPLE, THIS SITUATION IS A CRIME!!!!!!!!!
