Fire and Punish Cop Who Allegedly Stomped On Handcuffed Man’s Head

Target: Kim Jacobs, Police Chief of Columbus, Ohio

Goal: Permanently fire and severely punish officers seen in video footage violently beating a helpless, handcuffed man.

Video footage shows a police officer savagely assault a man who is completely subdued while four other officers stand watching. The victim, Demarco Anderson, was already handcuffed, hog-tied, and lying face down on the ground. One officer, Zachary Rosen, can be seen stomping on the victim’s head with so much force that it bounces off the concrete, then he kneels on the hog-tied victim’s neck.

Rosen is the same police officer who was involved in the fatal shooting of Henry Green just a year ago. Rosen was allowed to escape justice when, according to news outlets, a grand jury declined to charge him.

After the video got out, the police department made a public statement saying that Officer Rosen has been reassigned to non-patrol duty, hardly even a slap on the wrist. The officer wasn’t fired or even charged. It’s bad enough that Officer Rosen was allowed to continue working and escape criminal charges after fatally shooting someone. Had the authorities done their jobs correctly, this officer wouldn’t have ever been in the position of authority to hurt yet another person.

The department made no mention whatsoever of any reprimands for the four officers who stood by and watched the violent assault. It’s disturbing that there were four other officers at the scene and none of them intervened while their fellow officer tortured a helpless person, but even more disturbing was the police departments’ seemingly careless response. Please sign this petition to demand that all the officers involved, including the four who did nothing to stop the abuse, are fired indefinitely and harshly punished.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief Jacobs,

A police officer was caught on video footage violently stomping on a restrained suspect’s head while four other officers watched, never attempting to intervene. The suspect was rendered helpless, handcuffed and hog-tied facedown on the ground, before Officer Zachary Rosen takes off running towards the suspect and delivering the torturous stomp to the back of his head.

Officer Rosen should’ve been fired when he fatally shot someone last year, but instead he was allowed to escape justice. Now another victim has been savagely assaulted. To make matters worse, the public statement issued by the police department makes it seem as if this heinous crime isn’t going to be taken seriously either. We, the undersigned, demand that Officer Rosen and the other four at the scene face criminal charges and be fired indefinitely.

Sincerely,

  1. Kathryn Irby says:

Sick and Tired of Cops not being held Accountable for their serial murders and other means of blatant abuse of innocent people!!! They should be locked up, with the key thrown away–PERMANENTLY!

  2. To much of the public, this cop’s offense is horrible, repugnant and unacceptable. But his superiors obviously think its not so bad – just too bad it got caught on video. No problem. Just move him elsewhere till things quiet down. Then put him out on the street again to brutalize others. That’s the way they think. Disgusting and unacceptable.
POLICE BRUTALITY and CORRUPTION MUST BE STOPPED.
